Prisoners at a top security jail say their human rights have been violated because a power cut has prevented them from vaping and watching TV.

A large part of Frankland prison, in Durham, has been hit by an outage which has left hundreds of lags shivering in darkened cells since Monday. The biggest blow to inmates has been that they can't charge their vaping devices.

Why just highlight the vaping and TV?

They have no heat or light, that is a fundamental right even for prisoners!

They have a point, the government have a duty of care to prisoners, as they do to all of us. However, you are free to feel no sympathy for them. I can't imagine many people will care.

You don't need empathy towards a criminal to understand heat and light are a basic fundamental right to all.

It is an indictment of how much damage the current shower have done to this country and a precursor to whats ahead for all of us unless we vote them out.
What about TV and vapes? ;)

Hope it’s fixed for the summer so if it gets to hot for them they can turn on the air conditioning.

Vaping and watching TV is not a human right
Once they have clothing , heating, a bed with bedding, 2 meals a day , an hour a day fresh air drinking water, toilet and washing facilities I really don't care if they have nothing else

Except that isn't how it works.

You have a group of people that have already committed serious crimes suddenly losing basic facilities. You and I aren't affected by that. The officers working there will be. There is no excuse in this country for a publicly ran building to be without power.
