Is Their Any Point Schools Giving Children Homework To Do?

Back in my time before the days of the Internet, Smartphones and ChatGPT etc… homework was quite challenging and you actually learned what you were doing wether that was going to the local library to research some history or getting your calculator out to do some maths.

Kids today have an encyclopaedia of information on the internet which they can find in seconds and do a copy and paste job. They also have access to ChatGPT which they can input any maths question and it will not only give you the answer it will show you all the workings out.

Kids have got it so easy today.

Yea but using available technology is all part of the game.

It's like if my wife asks me to sort something out around the house but I then delegate it to someone off checkatrade, the job still gets done, everybody's happy.

That’s true but by you giving the job to someone else you won’t learn anything.

Delegation can often be the cheapest route too, as you are not then paying for someone to put right the additional damage caused trying to be hands on 🤣

My daughter made a satellite and tested it to make sure it could stand the rigours of launch. She now has to write an evaluation of the suitability to send it into space. Neither wikipedia nor chat gpt would help with this.

My son wasnt great academically at school, but his sister was. He did have an interest in tech and music. Would happily practice, guitar, bass and taught himself keyboards. Equally he became a power user for the tech that he was into. He went to a music school and then to university to study music production. He then ended up in a great job in creative marketing, producing video, web pages and media marketing.

Encourage them to do what they are interested in, if that builds the skills for a modern world.

Fck all use though when they've got to sit in a room for 90 minutes in June and repeat something similar and show they've learned something, while being invigilated
