Is the BBC impartial?

I would imagine some reporters are impartial and some are not. As a tv provider, impartiality should be judged on giving both the left and right a fair crack of the whip. Not sure that happens all the time.

It's meant to be, but every time I watch Question Time I feel it's not. Don't get me wrong the BBC do some great things, but I don't think they're impartial.
There is an often used saying that if it is, on average, annoying both sides equally it must be at least close. Not that I am saying I dont thing its been getting worse in many ways for some time ... some of their leading journalists may as well have been working directly out of conservative party central in recent years.

It is sadly as impartial, as we have, anywhere in the mainstream media,
Nowhere near as impartial as they should be, but not owned by big business or a despot state - which all other mainstream media sources are.

The trouble is who decides what fair is?

From my, no doubt biased, perspective it feels like if there's a negative tory story the BBC feels like it has to find a negative labour one for the balance.

Problem is in recent years, there's usually 10 negative tory stories to 1 Labour.

Yes, I'd say so. There are plenty of occasions when some people accuse the BBC of bias, but on the basis that the complaints come from both left and right, I think it's pretty impartial.

They are definitely not. I had a problem with my building insurance going through the roof because of unsafe cladding issues. I got a BBC reporter to run a story on it but when it came to press he missed out all the content I gave him about the insurance companies s***ing us up for their profit.
Big business have the BBC in their pocket.

I know what you are saying I just don't agree. The issue is Bruce hosts the prime time politics show which skews opinion on bias, I believe.

Ultimately, if you generalise the BBC do OK. Not great but OK.

Mentorn has produced the programme for the BBC since 1998.

Alison Fuller Pedley is the audience producer. ( It’s claimed she has interesting friends)

I just think that the right complains about the BBC being left wing mostly on its comedy output. Whereas the left complains about the political coverage. It’s definitely less impartial than it used to be
