Having referenda in all 6 historic counties? Or whatever the administrative regions are now.
So it could end up with the British section of NI effectively being reduced such that the (smaller) area (s) become Crown protectorates much like Gibraltar in the future, rather than it being a province/country forming part of the United Kingdom with GB?
As I understand it, most of those current NI regions are quite aligned to the Irish or British flags, and in turn, the question of rule doesn’t necessarily need to be confronted for the whole of NI. Some areas would return to Irish rule and some would gain a sort of Gibraltar like status with GB, but far fewer people would need to be subjected to rule from a government they feel no allegiance to.
