Is Lewis Wing treading water...

I'd be interested to know how many Championship midfielders scored more than 5 goals last season.

It's undoubtedly the best bit of his game. But does this make up for having no influence at all when he hasn't scored, and struggling to compete with the opponents?
Pout in the best pass of the game for us yesterday after some interplay with Morsy. All of his free kicks were good and Fletcher should have scored in the first 5 minutes.

Our goalkeeper let us down yesterday.

I don't think that's the case to be honest. Again that kind of assessment is a bit black or white really.

Yes he put in two excellent crosses after Tav had been completely wasting our free kicks. We had no one up front to put them in.
Howson put in another superb ball and Britt cocked it up. Hopefully akom or whatever his name is will be able to get on the end of one.
Been a problem sticking away crosses for a while. Even with flint and hughil we only managed 3 set piece goals under Pulis. People talk about us like we are a physical side, yet up front we are powder puff.

You said if he’s not scoring goals, he’s not offering anything. That’s about as black and white as it gets.

People are entitled to slag him off all they like, but the bottom line is he was the clubs third highest scorer last season - and I think its pretty fair to say we're desperate for goals from anywhere!

Wing is a good long-range passer of the passer of the ball and shoots well from distance. I don't actually think there's much else (anything else?) to his game. His play without the ball is terrible, tactically naive, not a great tackler and doesn't close down intelligently.

Probably 5th or 6th choice for a midfield berth at the moment. In an alternate reality he might be useful as a sub to bring on in the last twenty minutes when we're cruising to dictate the pace of the game but as we are highly unlikely to find ourselves in that situation with any frequency this season I think he'll be off, if we can get another midfielder in.

Thats a credit to him but a condemnation of the 21.5Million pound duo who were more off than on all last season.
Im as guilty as anyone for expecting more of Wing at the moment.
Truth is, as a team we are like a bike made up of spare parts - not made to complement each other but do a basic job ok.

he was always a poor footballer with a good shot, he is still exactly the same
I said this last season and was slated for it great shot but his footballing awareness And positioning/vision is still very limited but people forget he’s Came from non league player So he’s bound to be raw.
