Is Farage dangerous or incompetent?

I wonder if this is an attempt to take the donation and the Cottrell stuff out of the window in which the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner has any remit to investigate his financial affairs (12 months up to election and after)?

Obviously framing it as noble stand to let the voters decide what they think but what he says and what he’s actually doing are usually very distant relations.

I can see Rupert Lowe's mob throwing everything at this.

On the surface, NF's seat looks fairly safe with a majority of almost 8.5k over the Tory candidate.
Labour won't be much of a factor: not a target seat for them.
Greens and tactical vote will also be a factor.

Farage's recent negative publicity, plus his negligible contribution as an MP for his constituency may count against him too.
I'd expect turnout to be high, given the publicity on the seat.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

I believe that to be exactly what this is.

A dodge from the slippiest snake oil salesman in the country.

I think this is a clever move by farridge. If he wins he claim it as clearing the slate and getting a mandate without all the sleazy sh.it he has got away with.
If the tories and restore fight the seat then they could split the right vote. But what hope do Labour or the Greens have? Thats why he chose that seat, the first place.

Its the same as what happened with Burnham.
I am scared that Farridge will walk it and come out smelling of roses. Again.

Can he get any more votes than last time, i doubt it, as you say lowe will throw everything at it, so could take 10-20% of votes away, add to that they will be some who voted for him that have since changed their mind due to his disappearing act, and as much as I hate to say it tories have hit rock bottom and could take another 10% away from him. Add tactical voting into the mix and he might just be in trouble

I think the Tories will take more than 10%. At the last GE they took about 28%, about 4% more than the Tories across the nation as a whole. The Tories are currently polling at about 19% across the UK.

While some of NF's share will want an even more extreme candidate and vote Restore, I think some former Tory voters will also be tired of the Farage circus, and want an MP that actually bothers to represents the constituency and turns up to parliament etc. I see him losing some votes on both sides.

What a choice for the tactical voter! 🤮

We do not know whether this is a big mistake by Farrage. He has put his political future in the hands of the electors of Clacton on Sea. It’s up to them. Rather a lot of wishful thinking on here at the moment.

I don't see it as wishful thinking. It's not as if he vanishes if he loses his seat, is it? He attracted a huge amount of publicity before he was an MP, and will continue to do so.

Losing his seat would free him up from any sense of obligation to his constituency (OK, he doesn't seem to have much of this, but it would stop him for being criticised for it), and any of the financial rules to which MPs are subject. I'm never sure if NF actually wants to be PM, or is just happier sniping from the the sidelines.

I'm just more interested to see how this plays out.

I meant 10% off reforms 2024 vote

The interview on the streets of clackton yesterday (albeit older voters) said they couldnt care less about his finances and would vote for him no matter what. Same thing you’d hear at a Trump rally

Shoot someone on 5th avenue and not lose a single vote.

Need a tactical vote to have much chance of getting him out

Even if he did lose the seat I’m sure the £5m he got given can help keep tge wolf from the door
