Is Ben Gibson next through the door?

Surely Norwich would be the best option for him? They'll have more$ and the squad has to be better than the Boro?

Yeah but he wants to live on Teesside and play for Boro. If that can’t happen he will go elsewhere i would imagine rather than sit on his wages at Burnley

The fact that we are actively trying to sort something out is really encouraging. I have no doubt your source is genuine. Norwich and many other teams might financially have the upper hand, but as we found out with Jese, player power will win the day, if it is what he wants. Burnley will want him gone, if he digs in like Jese, Burnley have 2 options if they do not want him at Burnley.
1. Keep paying the player £40k a week to train with Middlesbrough
2. Allow him to play for Boro in a deal that saves them money or agree a cut price sale that is affordable over time to Boro.

Dig in Ben, but if a Premier league team comes in, grab the opportunity to show Dyche what a talent he wasted.

He might not want to uproot his family to Norwich. I wouldn’t want to. Wouldn’t blame him for dogging his heels in and saying he will only move to a NE, NW or Yorkshire club.

Norwich City in pole position ahead of Middlesbrough to sign Burnley defender Ben Gibson - reports
...........

If this report does have any credabilitiy it can only be that Norwich have the parachute payments and could match his wages more readily than the Boro could.
As a fan - and knowing Gibbo`s love for T-Side and the Boro, unless hes intent on retiring early to Mundesley or Bacton, I cant see why he would want to play for Norwich.
Trying to read between the lines, it may be that the [previously reported] exchange for Dael Fry or part - exchang, may bring him home? Im sure his agent will demand more, but I`m sure we will get the deal over the line.

You are confusing cash flow with accounting. Of course MFC wants to get the best deal possible, but once the transfer is signed MFC must show the full liability in the accounts. When and how it pays the transfer fee will be detailed in the contract. Burnley will probably factor the debt anyway, so it's just between MFC and a bank somewhere. Delaying payment over months or years doesn't materially affect Boro's P&L nor its FFP status.

I am really not confusing anything, I think you maybe misunderstand my post??? However, I do accept my post was a bit rushed and certainly not the clearest. By save them money (Burnley), I meant by Burnley getting in a loan fee and Boro also paying a portion toward some of his wages thereby reducing Burnley‘s losses that season. I used the Jese analogy as an example, whereby Boro offered PSG a far better financial deal than Las Palmas, but as we know PSG had to accept option 2 as option 1 was less financially attractive, as it would surely be for Burnley too.

Of course everything has to go through the accounting process. Any period of payment would have to be acceptable to both parties. I would have thought payment would be within the accounting period of the loan period rather than spread over several years in truth, but it obviously is whatever the parties agree. I can’t see Burnley being happy unless it were the former In truth.
