Is anyone else just

As bad as it seems, I honestly think there'll be a tipping point at which the younger generation will take matters into their own hands and make the changes needed.
You see the slow assaults on basic human rights worldwide, gender rights such as the attack on Rowe Vs Wade in the US which is primarily white men deciding what women can do with their bodies and the impending climate disaster. There will come a point when things will change for the better.

Brexit was what did it for me. Not wanting to stat an argument about it here, what is done is done but it was that moment when you realised the country and culture you lived in did not all have similar values. I felt like a stanger in my own country.
Agree but this started long before Brexit, really does make me sick knowing so many people we interact with every day can have such vile repulsive views. And to make it worse people like that have now been given a platform to push this onto anyone daft enough to listen

There is, of course a flip side to this. How good and selfless people can be. OGS giving away 7 million. The little boy who gave all his birthday presents to a local hospice, my very own daughter who on her 10th birthday this year asked for foodbank donations instead of birthday presents. The people on this board who donate time to good causes.

Yes they're are some awful, selfish people but that has always been the case. Most are good people who go about their lives and don't megaphone their actions because they see it as, not being heroes, but being humans.

I don't really have any magic words to make anyone feel better about everything that is going on around us at the moment. But, I thought I would share something completely trivial that put a smile on my face last night ......

........ Last night my cat, having been in my life for 16yrs, uttered his first audible fart when he was asleep next to me. It scared the living daylights out of me as I live alone and I thought there was someone else in the house with me! :ROFLMAO:

I hope everyone finds their equivalent of a farting cat today and UTB! (y)

Out of interest, what did it smell like? 🤔

I know it's all relative and there is some cr@p out there but last night I put our Xmas tree up with my 8 year old daughter and the excitement on her face when 'Betty' Elf arrived yesterday morning made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I always try and be optimistic and I hope that we can see her play Jingle Bells on her flute at the Nativity and go to the Pantomine on Xmas Eve

The UK has, more ever, become a Country where people have either lapsed into abject selfish apathy or polarisation.
There is no longer a middle ground, and people just don't care anymore.
As dooderooni has already said above, I hope the younger generation have more empathy and humanity.
And I hope we havn't already fkd it all up past the tipping point for them

I appreciate the optimistic antitheses but let's not kid ourselves here, the human race is spiralling ever further toward a sorry, undignified demise. All the rallying around re climate change, pollution etc is far too little, far too late. We've all f***ed the planet irreversibly and it'll be a lot better off without us. That's if we haven't scorched the face off it by then.

I tend to be more an optimist than the average person and think emerging nations will not pollute the Earth as much as developed nations did in the last 150 years and developed nations will reduce their carbon emissions. Climate change is a big agenda item now.

Although income and wealth inequality are rising I think poverty will reduce slightly as Governments seem more keen to intervene in recent years and ignore free market philosphy of the 1980s and 1990s.

Our laws are more liberal now than say 60 years ago and we are a more diversified society.

I’m struggling to find anything to be positive about today.
The News is utterly depressing. Nothing to be happy about and look forward to. No way out of this covid nonsense. And don’t tell me Christmas is coming, I despise it.
And to be brutal, I’ll never have children or any dependants, and with a bit of luck I’ll be dead in 10 yrs or so, so I don’t give a stuff about climate change.

I decided a long time ago to give up worrying about climate change, in as much as one can. For me there is no hope for the human race, its colonisation of the planet is totally out of control. Anyone with a basic appreciation of nature must see the natural word is fooked - massive drops in numbers, habitat decimated, rivers, seas & soil poisoned. I also think things will start getting nasty much quicker than most seem too.... we've reached tipping points and things could accelerate very quickly indeed. I've had these thoughts all of my adult life, and its disconcerting seeing it all start to actually happen.

anyway, happy christmas!

In almost any measurable way the world is better today than it was in the past:

Disease reduced, life expectancy increased, literacy increased, standard of living increased, poverty decreased.

Carbon emmissions are still increasing and will continue to do so for some time. This has to be addressed, but simply won't be until we have nuclear fusion.

It's very easy to read the newspapers, or follow polictical commentators and believe we are all doomed. We simply are not, providing we can avoid a global warming tipping point.

Yes, just can't watch the news or listen to it on the radio, had enough😞was due in tenerife next week n can't go cos I refuse to be vaccinated, the wife isn't happy and still might go yet, was the only reason she got vaccinated, feeling like I've got the world on my shoulders

Why don’t you want t get vaccinated?

1 vaccination I might of considered it, but the way things are going 3+boosters no thanks, already had covid too, symptoms I got apart from losing my taste n smell I've had probably every year since childhood

Maulster, I have to say, your in for a right mauling tomorrow after saying you haven't been vaccinated.

Thread derailed in 3,2,1.....

I know times are tough but you've made a decision not to be vaccinated. You have to accept the consequences of that decision. Obviously anti vaxxing is more important to you than a holiday.
