Many of our fathers, and family worked in Iron and Steel and engineering in our area.
My old fella served his time as an Iron moulder in D&L,worked out of his time at Shaws, Cochrans, Heads etc. My GF & GGF were Stevedores on the Tees, I worked contracting for RDL Lin Din in construction Otto S & C.
The site linked shows most of the Teesside Companies and what they built or where part of, anything from Head Wrightsons building bridges Teesside Bridge buildingWW2 landing rafts. It shows who started things and who kicked things off and the names of companies who were sister or group acquisitions. It is has many links and historic interest and gives answers to a lot of what went on.
