iPhone notes question

Sorry, Googling isn't providing a definitive answer, and I'm in a rush.

If I try to sign out of an iCloud account, one of the warnings says "iCloud notes will be removed from your iPhone".

My assumption is this does NOT apply to notes marked as "On My iPhone", only those stored on the server, but I need to be 100% sure. Anyone confirm please? Ta

This article suggests that you will be offered an option to keep them on your phone, but from what you say it doesn’t sound like you get that option. Maybe the article is out of date.

Yep, ta, it doesn't quite work like that - or at least it's not phrased like that. I haven't got the phone in front of me now so I can't check.
