Interview for promotion!

Abit of good news despite my lockdown. I have applied for promotion made it through the tests and now just been successful in next stage so invite for final stage the interview. Unfortunately it’s been suspended for 2 months.... but hopefully I can get through that for a promotion. Good news story for me at least while locked up

I used to work for HMRC I had to do online application and interview to get my promotion now. I started at the bottom grade and interview is for 4th grade up so steadily worked my way up. This was 2 online tests, 1250 personal statement around key criteria and then interview. Scored 6/7 on my personal statement 1- rubbish 7 outstanding
 
Boggles my mind why companies make application processes so labour intensive. As a former manager I would dread reading a 1200 word personal statement for each candidate 👎🏻 Hate places that have application forms as well as uploading CV and covering letter as well, so much duplication.

If you don’t know you want to employ someone when you’ve got an employment record, online tests, personal statement etc and you still need to interview them head on then your process is broken
 
It’s the civil service. They have sifters on mass who then score the personal statements. If it was 1 person it would take months literally 100’s of statements to mark for 17 jobs
