Interesting comments from the gaffer?

H
Yep, committed in the tackle, heart of a lion, patrolled his touchline like a savage beast.

The perfect blend of Roy Keane and Cafu, his memory shall live on amongst the boro faithful for eons to come.

He was no GrĆ©tar Steinsson (who we were supposed to sign as Youngā€™s replacement)

I still remember that video of him shouting 'rattacaker' or something into the camera, didn't he end up at Bolton?
Yeah, we argued on price. Weā€™d agreed Ā£2.5m they asked for Ā£4m and we bought Hoyte for Ā£3m.. he went to Bolton for Ā£3.5m. Glad
We stuck to our guns!! Lol

Warnock wonā€™t be here next season so will be just focused on what he knows and Hel knkw Hel have their commitment this season . Next season wel probably have to sell someone and if itā€™s a good figure itā€™s not the end of the world but promotion would give us the option atleast to keep them all or attract better potentially
Well, if he gets us promoted then I donā€™t think heā€™ll walk away without another crack at the premiership and stabilizing us in there after one season then walking away

I cannot see him walking away from a promotion

So youā€™re saying Gibbo might sack him if he gets us promoted ?
Gibbo would never do that like. Nope.
I agree that Steve Gibson would be highly unlikely to do that, but it would probably be the 'best' thing to do from a success perspective. That said, I suspect it's purely hypothetical, as I don't really see us being in the promotion hunt this season (but hope to be wrong about that).

Tav & Fry both deserve to try themselves at a higher level and there will be no shortage of takers, we probably have a 'gentleman's agreement' with them and McNair (who may look better with better defenders around him in the EPL?) that we won't stand in their way if it isn't with Boro. All fairly standard practice really. With Van Bergen, if I was Warnock I would be more ***ed off with the player and his agent, they seem to have led us a merry dance?

Unless thereā€™s someone lined up to use that money on immediately then thereā€™s no point as the players could potentially earn us far more money with promotion than any transfer fee just sitting in the bank.
itā€™s no good being ā€a bit p***edā€œ off with a transfer situation if the player youā€™ve been courting looks elsewhere because youā€™ve suggested he might not get a game at a 2nd division club.
Absolutely agree with this. I do wonder if the people who perpetually criticise Boro's recruitment are the same people who want us to sell our better players so we can then go out and buy more players?

Also agree on the Van Bergen thing. Imagine checking how the team you're close to signing for has got on and you see the manager saying you're nowt to do with him. It might not have been as clear-cut as that but it must've had an effect, surely. Would you want to join a club where the manager has said that? Though I do have an inkling that someone on Van Bergen's side has maybe leaked the details to encourage other clubs to come in and pay more money. Maybe that is why Warnock is annoyed.
