Interest in club

At running a football club? Based on what?

And for the record, I have met her a few times, and she is a very nice and down to earth person.
Your views on her and pubs and nunneries.

How would you or your brother in law know how she would do at running a football club?

Who knows how she would fair but she’s done well for herself in the work she has done. She may end up being successful if she’s passed the reigns who knows.

Would anyone be opposed to Red Bull Middlesbrough FC? I don't think I would mind if the right investment came in

I wouldn't be ok with that.
Identity is everything; I'd rather be relegated as Middlesbrough than promoted as RB Middlesbrough. There's more dignity, pride and self respect in league 1 football than there is in whoring out the club's name for success.

F**k me, is there anyone you won’t try to start an argument with?

No arguments I don’t think what I said came across as argumentative? I could be wrong that wasn’t my intention, I just don’t think it’s right you get personal about someone who can’t reply.

I don’t want to argue with anybody on here and is never my intention, the written word can be read so many ways, I was merely responding to a comment you made about the owners daughter. If you don’t want what you say challenged or replied to then keep it to yourself.

Aren't ASOS struggling a bit, although it would not affect his current wealth. He's cerrtainly richer than Gibbo who is only a multi-millionaire.

Gibbo has his faults but you always feel he's as passionate as us, through thick and thin.

"Let someone else have a go" 😁😁😁.

Wouldn't bother me if we became RB Middlesbrough.
We would still get called Boro .

What a daft line you have taken here.
Of course nobody "knows" what she would be like running a football club, anymore than we would "know" what anybody else would be like.
But there are an awful lot of indicators about a person's suitability.
Uncle Rico made a perfectly valid post.

Until "nee nah nee nah", the Club police are in attendance.

The club is just existing not going anywhere for the last 15 or so years with short little bouts of entertainment.Whats the point in than I'd rather sell up start afresh because it's so boring Gibson hasnt got the funds to make the step up .

What is success for a club like Boro

The phrase ‘Success for a club like Boro‘ suggests a total lack of ambition and an acceptance of our place in the football hierarchy and being stable. Whatever happened to chasing sporting glory? I bet Man City fans 20 year ago were wondering the same, now look at them. Why not Boro? It needs ambition and money and an owner with a will to succeed and the finances to back that up.

In footballing terms, Mr Gibson has done a terrific job, but then around 2006 it dawned, taking us to the next level was expensive and we were warned cloth needed cutting as an ageing squad needed replacing. Southgate imho was the patsy as the owner knew he had more brownie points with the fans and ultimately the project was unsustainable. Since then has been largely poor, more promises than a political party and delivery like one too. He has ‘reached his ceiling’ and it appears in investment terms is no longer willing to compete.

We have had more models over the years than a Milan catwalk, most can be described as disappointing. He will be forever remembered for his achievements, but I do think a new visionary ownership willing to invest would be the best all round for the club as I would hate to see his tarnished teflon coat worn away completely.

Off pitch…… Controlling the narrative from the club and it's rose tinted fans via social media and through the press for as long as it can get away with it! I am sure those fans, whoever they may be, that feel they are ‘capable of seeing the bigger picture’, will continue in accepting their lot.

I would disagree with Gibson appointing Southgate due to our position being unsustainable. I think it was just plain arrogance. He had success with Robson and McClaren being rookies and he liked the fact he was told Southgate wasn't allowed to be manager because he didn't have his badges so he stuck to his guns and kept him on even when it was failing. We had the option of appointing managers with pedigree but he liked the fact he could look like a hero by doing things his own way. We broke our transfer record under Southgate so we weren't completely limiting ourselves, even if we weren't handing out mega contracts to ageing former stars. Then the financial crash happened and we struggled for financing but he still backed Strachan and that failed and crowds started dwindling. He brought in Kenyon for advice, there were promising links with Mendes etc and it looked like we might be modernising but Gibson wouldn't give up any control. He finally hired a foreign manager and brought in Orta as director of football but still bought players that Orta or Karanka didn't want and he fell out with Karanka instead of letting them get on with the job..

I think it is blatantly obvious that all the failings we had after those extremely good times in the 90s and early 00s have been down to bad decision making by Gibson. He's too controlling but he's no longer knowledgeable enough about football because he hasn't expanded his horizons beyond what brought him success 20 years ago.

I disagree he made a personal comment about the owners daughter and her organisational skills, everything else said was valid.
