Indoor gigs (Ash)

I'm double jabbed, had covid...just got back from Greece no bother, all tests negative...straight to the Barrowlands to watch Arab Strap, stood right near the front comfortably, and the crowd proper jumped to first big weekend an all, and felt safe as houses!
Brilliant gig an all, best I've ever seen em I reckon

In a similar vein, I am going the see The Lemonheads next month (supported by HeyRocco if anyone remembers them from the first Twisterella?)
goalscrounger a gig made in heaven. Love The Lemonheads and Heyrocco(was playing a compilation I made of them in the car the other day). I take it this gog is in the States or are you back in UK.

Went to see elbow last night at Newcastle Academy, proof of negative lateral flow test, plus full vaccination needed on entry, which I expected to cause long queues to get in, but it was fine, no different to normal really.

Was it a good gig? I'm going to see them next week and really looking forward to it. Judging from Guy Garvey's comments on radio it sounds like they are too.

Strange that an Academy venue who usually couldn't care less about anything other than selling as much as their over priced drinks as possible have chosen to require proof of a test and double vaccination when they don't have to do anything.

Looking forward to The Futureheads on Friday apart from Shame at a socially distanced show at The Crypt it will be my first show since Elvis Costello st Sunderland and then a few days later Frank Turner at The Empire many moons ago.

It was their first live gig in two years he said last night, seen them before and they're always great live, but given the enforced break they were really enjoying themselves last night it seemed.

I thought that too, saw James at Scarborough OAT last week, much bigger venue, but only proof of vaccination was needed, but then it is open air I suppose.

Newcastle Academy not my favourite venue, but it was very well organised last night and proves that we can operate with 'vaccine passports' or whatever you choose to call it.

Excellent. I've generally enjoyed them whenever I've seen them. I'm going with a good mate and it will be his first gig since we saw Elvis Costello just before Lockdown 1. I think he's even more excited.

I have just taken a flow test - negative - and will be taking a couple more following (British) Sea Power at the Georgian Theatre, Saturday night. 200 people, full capacity in a fairly compact space, barely a mask on in the audience. Viola player Abi Fry was missing from the gig due to testing positive. It was an emotional night but to be honest really scary to think so many people in that room with barely a mask. I am due to sing at two or three gigs coming up and I really hope the rooms are less crowded and more masks are in evidence. Last week John Robb of the Membranes was greeting people elbow to elbow, he was visiting his mother the next week. Likewise I will be visiting my dad in a care home this week. I will have to take a test before entering. Personally I wish proof of testing was required at gigs and that more people were still wearing masks.

Just had one gig I couldn't go to postponed to next march. They were a French band though. Is it just British bands that are touring at the minute?
It isn't going to be easy now for European bands to tour here or vice versa. Covid quarantine and Brexit reasons.
Some of my friends are touring soon - mainly based in Netherlands. But the singer has been staying with his family here in UK for some weeks now so they will be able to play.

My yelle gig was moved from December 2020 to September 2021 and then to march 2022. And it still hasn't been delayed as much as a guns n roses gig I had tickets for in the early 00s.

One of my favourite bands is a french band called ODyL. Unfortunately I think they’ve disbanded now but the singer still performs under the name La Pietà. Her solo stuff isn’t too bad but it’s nowhere near as good as ODyL.
