You can't make it up.

Confusing everyone under the age of 50 who was brought up using metric. I suppose it does appeal to a certain core element who, along with the recent submarine gazumping, will think this is 2 fingers up to the EU.

I really can't belive how much brexit is making us regress. Can't believe how backwards this country has become so quickly.

This should be the final straw for me. If I was single I'd leave the country right now. I've had enough of the stupidity and destruction of it all.

Sadly the other half won't leave so I'm stuck in this isolated little rock.

I'm over 50 and would hate having to go back to imperial measurements. Christ knows how it'd affect the younger generations.

Ludicrous isn't is - does anyone care? Least it keeps the papers busy while freedoms are further eroded and the public purse is bled dry behind the scenes I guess.

This presumably appeals to an incredibly niche demographic, bigoted market traders? (no offence to intended to non-bigoted market traders!). I can't imagine a world where one of the big supermarkets goes for this - massive risk for no reward surely?

I am 60 and was brought up using imperial and metric and it was carried on in the shipyard during my apprenticeship years.

Distance is always measured in imperial, it is our road system. If I am building anything, I use metric.

This will only confuse the life out of our kids, it did me as a youngster. Just leave it alone.

this, nobody cares at all, many places used both systems anyway and I imagine those that do will continue to, no one is going to stop using metric just because they can. It would lose business and probably cost them more to implement it. It’s ridiculous someone came up with the idea and even more ridiculous it’s getting any kind of air time.

When talking about this I always ask "What's a mile?"
I rarely get a correct answer even from old fogies like me!
Ask them "What's a kilometre" and the majority answer correctly.
If I was to suggest all road signs should be in kilometres l would be run out of the country.
Follow up question is "How many pounds in a hundred weight "
See even my tablet wouldn't let me type hundredweight.

Anyone measuring distances in kilometres is either a cyclists or a walker, and are using this distance on a map or a mapping device.

If travelling by car, no one would say it is 404 kilometres to London or we have 202 kilometres to go. Distance is always in miles.

Edit: And a mile is 1760 yards or 8 furlongs.

I still measure in miles, how far I've walked, cycled, as will do today, measurements, weight, i'm just under 11 stone

We use both measurements at work as some recipes we use are in pounds and ounces and the others in grams and kilos.

Just let people use what they want to use.

If I am weighing myself it would be in imperial, but when I am cooking I use the metric system.

The metric system is easier to use and needs to be kept. Except for mileage.

I wonder how many on here use kilometres when filling in their mileage sheets. 😜
