Ikpeazu

It's hard to compere him to Britt. They are totally different. The issue with Britt is he was asked to play the role Uche is playing (as was Akpom).

It simply never made any sense. I mean we went from wanting Moore to signing Akpom. Again completely different but asking Akpom to win headers and hold it up.

We have been crying out for an actual target man for years. I guess we couldn't justify one as we had Rudy / Britt and Fletcher pulling in best part of a 100k a week (stunning).

It just shows that we loving seeing a guy putting a shift in👏. You would think workrate and a bit of disire would be the very least you'd get from a footballer. Sadly as we've seen it's not.

I'd imagine we may see a bit more of Akpom playing alongside Uche? It's not a giver that he's leaving and if he stays he may improve playing off a big fella. We can't just write him off as we maybe can't move him on.

I did not think he lacked fir technical ability.

Since the thread has become a comparison of him and Britt, I thought he showed control and link up play superior to anything I'd seen from Britt.

I think it's easy to fall into the trap of judging a player by his height: he's 6'3'' so he must be a donkey. I don't think that's true: Viduka would be the ultimate rejection of that, but I don't can't to be accused of comparing the two when I'm not.

However, it's quite possible for a player to have all the physical attributes UI showed today, and have some decent skill.
Completely agree with this. I don’t think he lacks technical ability at all. In fact I think we’ve got quite a player here potentially.

Good post, we could see a different Akpom, wouldn't that be nice & allow us to look at other positions

Another aspect of his game that I liked was that he'd look to turn his man. He wouldn't just hold the ball up and lay it off to a teammate, and when he was able to turn with the ball he was also able to hold off the player using his strength.

He is incredibly strong and, as working men, fans do like to see good work rate which you get in spades from the guy.

Not seen enough of him yet to really judge but I have been quite impressed with him so far.

I hope we use him more in a game plan like yesterday than every ball hoofed to him like at Fulham. He showed that he can be a really effective player with a bit more happening around him and behind him.

Ikpeazu had a fine game and he absolutely gives his all.
He wants to be be here and looks like he will do everything to take his chance.
In all honesty I'd still like to see him as a second option, but he had a wonderful home debut yesterday.

I thought Crooks was wonderful yesterday. Now he really does have good touch for a very big man.

We really need to improve on set-pieces, because free kicks is Uche's main end product. I hope I'm wrong but I can't see him as a 'provider', either from knockdowns or spotting the runs of others.
