Ignorant people blaming everyone else

Would this be a table compiled by Boris and Dom then, because if it's got Spain at the bottom of the list for compliance, it's not worth the paper it's written on

From direct experience, my part of Spain (Andalucia) is very compliant with wearing facemasks, distancing, and generally following the rules set by the national and regional governments. When out, you NEVER see anyone not wearing a mask, even e.g. an individual out walking a dog

You can't say it's not worth the paper it's written on just because it's not in your city. Once again the differences in our parts of Spain are huge, I have to say it's the complete opposite in Barcelona, people looking for any excuse to take their mask off, I'm astounded how few people obey the rules, especially dog walkers, a lot of people seem to wear one round their neck and then pull it up if they walk past someone.
P.S. Not disagreeing with you for disagreements sake but I have had a different experience of people mask wearing.

"Remember their mantra common sense"

Now there are some people to whom that is a quality they do not have. Some neighbours for instance, they believe rules are for other people.

There area great number of people who don’t like being told what to do , never have and never will. They are obstinate to the point where they will do the opposite of what they are told with the “no one tells me what to do attitude”.
I cringe at the Cummins comments on here it’s pathetic, let’s be clear very few are breaking the rules because Dominic Cummins went on a drive to Barnard castle they are just using that to justify their actions. Are these people seriously trying to say that without Dominic Cummins we would have had much higher levels of compliance with the rules - nah, we would have been in the exact same situation now.

reaponsibilty starts at home, obey the rules and we will be fine.
It’s not a game, it’s not a big conspiracy, it’s not us against them, it’s not even political, it’s simply a matter of common sense.

The point on Cummings is that it showed you could do what you want without any recrimination if he had been punished as he should then I think people would have taken the Government more seriously, I know people who have done things and have said if it’s alright for him to do that then I’m doing this, if people see others getting away with something they take that as acquiesce to do it themselves. It is personal responsibility but that starts at the top and when those in power are flaunting it others follow suit.

Do as I say , not as I do !

Exactly. One rule for us...

You may cringe, but it's undermined government credibility and shown that you can get away with it if you think you're special enough. Lots of people fall into that category.

These idiot "celebrities" on social media are a huge part of the problem too and surely the likes of Facebook and Twitter need to do more to stop the spread of misinformation. Saying that you must be pretty stupid to ignore scientific advice and get your information from denise welch or matt le tissier

Can’t remember who posted it but there was a compliance study in graph format.
It basically showed a flat line until the week after Cumminsgate.
Then the ‘non compliance line went up signifcatntly.

Strong leadership with clearly visible punishment would have made a huge differeNice.
We got - ‘he was going for an eye test’

A huge proportion of our society only have a modicum of common sense and probably believe that the X Factor judges panel run the country .Get Simon to role out the rules and they’ll all follow

further thought . He’d probably do a better job than BoJo

That's what the want you to think Pak. Essentially the government is trying to absolve itself of all responsibility to protect it's citizens. You are allowing it to.

That may be true, but that does not give any one of us the right to stick 2 fingers up and be irresponsible in our personal behaviours. Responsibility and doing the right thing is a personal and collective duty. We all receive an education, we all understand the basics of what safety is and balance our personal approach to risk, unfortunately some people are not very bothered about applying that approach to others. I have had dogs abuse for politely mentiong self distancing or mask wearing issues. People are generally aggressive in their response so I gave up a long while ago.

During the 'first wave' I intently listened to Johnson, Witty, Valance et al as I trusted them and thought/knew that they hadn't handled anything like this before and I actually felt sorry for them at times.
For us to hit a 'second wave' and have the absolute rubbish spouted by the science boys on Monday and the utter tripe by Johnson yesterday is an absolute disgrace. No leadership, projections based on playing with a calculator - You can imagine one of them typed in BOOBLESS at one point and they all sniggered - and then that spiffley bollox last night.

Our societies will always have people who couldn't care less about anything but themselves and no matter how many times they are told they just don't give a ****. The rest of us (the vast majority) who will wear a face mask, will adhere to SD measures, won't mix households etc, are waiting for a credible way to get out of this mess and back to some sort of normality.

At present the only plan they've managed to come up with in 6 months is lockdown ................ really !!

I dont agree that is such a big factor, growing up I was taught what is right and wrong, others may be doing wrong but I know myself what to do I don’t believe there are as many sheep as people are suggesting. I don’t have a criminal record but why not, I see people breaking the law and getting away with it every day so why aren’t I a criminal? Because I know right from wrong and what others do has no impact on me.

The majority stating Cummins are using it as a justification for their actions which they would have done regardless and not because of him.

let’s not forget Cummins didn’t break any laws.

The government sets the national attitude. Many years of Tory rule has inflated this selfish attitude, it is a key trait to be 'me first'. You reap what you sew.

This "government gets the people it deserves, or the people get the government they deserve" is a self serving circular argument. The point is that people should follow the guidance, whether they agree with or not. The rules apply to everyone, regardless of whether high profile government advisors follow them or not.

That’s fair enough and I understand your point, in my opinion Cummings behaviour gave those that were so inclined a justification in their own minds to do what they wanted, the graph shown (c/o Daily Mail, so its not classed as left wing bias) that after Cummings actions confidence in the Government took a severe down turn, so there was an impact.

The truth is probably somewhere in between our two views, overplay and underplay, fair enough he didn’t break the law but he certainly interpreted the guidelines to suit his own needs which is exactly the behaviour that is being criticised by the Government.

I believe the messages the government have been putting across are the right ones. The problem is the people they have chosen to deliver the message.
They would have done better job of getting the message across by employing out of work actors, and putting out the truth in hard hitting adverts across the media., like they did with the Aids programme. but also backing it up with officialdom ie CMO statements. Dare I say it, across the party messages, that all the leaders have agreement on. There should be no party playing politics during this epidemic.
