Ignorant people blaming everyone else

I dont agree that is such a big factor, growing up I was taught what is right and wrong, others may be doing wrong but I know myself what to do I don’t believe there are as many sheep as people are suggesting. I don’t have a criminal record but why not, I see people breaking the law and getting away with it every day so why aren’t I a criminal? Because I know right from wrong and what others do has no impact on me.

The majority stating Cummins are using it as a justification for their actions which they would have done regardless and not because of him.

let’s not forget Cummins didn’t break any laws.

Dominic Cummings isn't gonna shag you.

This unfortunately the prevalent attitude of too many people, they want to be seen as outliers and rebels, exceptions to the rules, that they’re giving it to the man, social media has created an echo chamber for all kinds of views which makes meaningful debate and education nigh on impossible, it’s a crass, irresponsible marketing ploy that pays no heed to the safety of their customers.

I think the problem with Cummingsgate was that it was a big kick in the teeth to families who were making huge sacrifices, it gave the impression that it was one rule for them and another for us.

Fast forward 6 months and people are going to be asked to make huge sacrifices again and it isn't going to be easy.

For example I have 2 children under the age of 5, I expect there to be multiple occasions where the kids get coughs and temperatures. Should we as a family be isolating for 2 weeks at a time every time this happens? We are going to be literally stuck in the house for the best part of the winter with no outdoor exercise/ no social contact and putting enormous strain on our mental health... This is a huge ask.

Or, should I do what's best for my family and sneak out for some family exercise like Cummings did?

I understand the notion of personal responsibility such as wearing masks, social distancing etc but asking people to lock themselves in for months on end is a lot to ask when the people making the rules don't do it.

I have just seen a taxi driver (wearing a mask) who refused a passenger to get in without wearing a mask. In amongst the triad of language she was using, she said the laws don’t come in to play until Thursday, but he said he wasn’t taking any risks to protect his wife and kids, and said he wouldn’t change is mind. She is now going to report him and have his badge removed, and to top it off, as he drove away screamed a lovely racial insult at him.

All could have been avoided if she could be arsed putting a mask on in someone’s place of work, where they have been requested too..why are some many people finding it hard to do? 😡
We had 10 people walk in to our place on Monday night (we've continued the eat out scheme on Monday nights only) who had booked weeks ago and expected to be sat on the same table. They had been informed by email that this was no longer possible due to the rule of 6 lark and we had set two tables at opposite ends of the building.
They kicked off and moaned and they were shown the door. They left.

Our business has put far too much time, money and effort into it. Rules are the rules, if people don't like they can eat elsewhere

On the subject of personal responsibility, I developed a cough last night and have a test booked for today. My daughter was kept off school today and the same tomorrow. I am expecting results some time tomorrow so she may be back in school for the end of the week, but I am not sure what the rules are if I test negative.

My wife runs her own business making celebration cakes and she contacted all customers who have cakes due in the next 14 days and gave them the choice on whether to cancel their orders.

So it isn't a big deal, but it took about 3 hours to get a test booked, then the upset to my wife's business and my daughters schooling. I can see many people just not bothering. Cummings didn't help, but some would have ignored the rules regardless. Undoubtedly and demonstrably Cummings and the governments reaction has made matters worse.

However, and here is the main thing, as far as I am concerned. We opened up to quickly, didn't put any border control in place that has any teeth, opened the wrong things, schools before pubs and grouse shooting surely. These decisions led to another lockdown. Decisions made by our hapless government.

Observing rules needn't have been such a big problem, the government made it so.
