In the midst of the Liverpool Spurs debacle.

If you could replay a Boro game in history, what would it be?

Played the Blackburn game with 3 goalies, kids and tea lady
There is a point though that we'd have still gone down on goal difference. I think it was 8-0?

Of course assuming every single other result was identical. Which it probably wouldn't have been.

The UEFA Cup final seems the obvious one.

Another chance at winning the biggest trophy that we've competed for.

Win that, and our trajectory could change completely.
I'd be surprised if Gibson still went for Southgate with a major European honours in the bank.

We were in the game for most of it, even though the final scoreline was a hammering.

UEFA Cup final and award a penalty for the blatant shove on Viduka.
I'd def go for this. We'd have maybe had another major trophy in the bag.

96/97 - as the years have passed and I've read more and more about the season with the benefit of hindsight and the perspective of players from the time, I've concluded that we didn't really know what we were doing in this era. We MAY have signed a few more mercenary superstars and paid them way more than our whole defence earns in a season, but I think we'd have still ended up ballsing it all up somehow. It was always a runaway train. Robbo and Gibson learned from it though.

Yes, the second biggest football match for north east clubs in the last 20 years
