If the prem go ahead with this no relegation plan

Then it could be good news for us,as it would mean no Leeds or wba plus no relegated prem sides to contend with either.

Won't it mean that more clubs will be relegated in the next season though in order to get the numbers back to normal?
If that's the case there will be 5 clubs with parachute payments coming down the season after next and 5 relegation spots that we'll need to avoid being in next season.

Exactly dood but for that one season it would pretty much be a free hit at promotion. As we would def be a contender in the mix ( or should be).

In my view the only fair way is to put everything on hold until June or later if neccesary.

Restart when we can then this will sort out promotions relegations at all levels.

Have a little break then start season again, but with no cup competitions. (What a transfer window that would be)
Yes play midweek / Saturday but so be it.

I realise there are a few problems with players contracts, but that can be got around by a change of regulations across all football.

All other so called options are unfair across the board.

But no doubt it will be handled in the normal manner (ensure the darlings of the F.A. and press are looked after)

This is not a four week problem. The virus will be around at severe levels for at minimum two months and probably six. Even after that there will be continued lower level outbreaks.

My guess is the season is over. They may decide to play out the season simply to provide entertainment and TV money for the clubs, but my sense is they're better off canceling the season, and maybe setting up some kind of short term competition played behind closed doors so clubs can generate revenue and TV companies can fill a few screen hours.

As the disease progresses more and more clubs are going to be impacted, and there's no way you could have a fair competition under those circumstances. Better to have games that don't really mean anything and write off this season. It's a pity for clubs like Liverpool, Leeds and WBA etc.

The truth is we might still be dealing with this for next season.

I agree - talk of promoting Leeds and West Brom stinks in my opinion, if they promote on current positions then surely they have to relegate on the same basis, there can’t be this hybrid approach.
I don’t believe any solution is fair to all but I think voiding the season is the least controversial out of the available options( assuming the season cannot be finished)

Leeds are not certain of promotion either as everyone knows how fickle the last few months of the championship campaign can be so to promote any team based on results in March would be madness.

9 games left and that could all change.

Totally agree but at the moment that seems to be the thinking ! I think it’s too controversial as you point out - Fulham are also in the mix and could easily be promoted if the full season was played.

Whatever happens someone will be unhappy - I am absolutely fascinated to see how this will be resolved! Subsequent legal challenges and so on!

Having an extra 2 teams in the Premier League means the other 20 clubs giving away over £200m in TV rights money out of their share plus more in parachute payments to the relegated clubs at the end of the season as at least 3 of them will have spent more than 1 season in the Premier League.I can’t see many clubs being willing to take a £10m-£15m hit on income.

I would imagine the 'status quo' has to apply - the season stops and with a bit of good fortune and a light breeze we look to start again next season, with teams in the same league as now. no promotions and no relegations.

.
I think that is the fairest out of a bad bunch of options!
