If that OG didnt go in

We would all feel very different today.

We would probably think the mackems had played better but that we had ground a point out with total heart. And having negotiated the LL saga, with our new signings, wed be thinking the future is looking pretty interesting.

I felt sick as a ****ing dog last night and this morning. But the reality is we were so very close to that reality being today's reality. We are only a point worse off. So we need to pick ourselves up and get on one of our winning streaks. Carrick has done it before and can do it again. We can overcome. UTFB.

Nice war cry, but not sure it’s going to work this time.

Would feel no different at all, we would have still won 2 games in the last 10 and have the same issues we had all season

I think some people need to grow a pair. It's a good job some of you weren't around in 1986, there would be a queue of "Boro" fans at the bottom of the Transporter ready to dive into the Tees.
We took one of the best sides in this division to within a decent point. A lucky deflection for their first, and an unlucky own goal for their third.
We're following the Boro, it goes like this at times.

I'd pretty much accepted 2-2 was a fair result, but would have been frustrated that we didn't take our chances. And I'd still be fed up of seeing us fannying about, making mistake after mistake and Carrick sweeping it under the carpet. Last night was a great opportunity for us to cement our place in the play off places with many of the teams around us playing before we next do. The gap to Sunderland would've been 8 points and they would be looking over their shoulders at us. Instead they are now 14 points ahead of us with a good chance of automatics and we are in even deeper disarray, with large numbers of fans turning on the manager. Last night was pivotal in our season and once again we fvcked it up!

Clown by name...

Unfortunately, last night was the point for me where this went from a Schrodinger season of we are having a poor season, but still winning enough points to stay in the mix over the long run, to this is massive underperformance and our own players and management are holding us back. Even a point for Sunderland would have shown they are far more prepared for a playoff campaign than us. We've put together a run of 3 wins only once this season, can't seem to string results together, and our next five games are tough.

16 games left, with this squad, there's still time to retrieve it, but very little margin for error now. I don't think we're mentally tough enough to hold our nerve and go on a run.

The own goal did go in though. Just like if we hadn’t played ourselves into trouble and watched Ayling try to drag-back his way out of bother in his own box at Preston, or if we hadn’t thrown a 3-0 lead away against Sheffield Wednesday, or if we hadn’t missed a penalty and thrown away a 3-1 lead at Norwich, or conceded absolutely appalling goals at Derby, Sunderland, Leeds, Plymouth and Portsmouth.

Or, to put it frankly, if we hadn’t dropped 19 points from winning positions this season.

That’s proof of what we can all see happening in front of us. We are not a ruthless football team, we are a disjointed mess that has a tendency to crumble under pressure.

We are 7th and in with a shout of the playoffs not because of some sort of grand, managerial or playing philosophy, but because we’ve invested very large sums of money in some quality attacking footballers for our level, each of whom can produce moments of class that allows us pick up enough points to keep the wolves from the door. In this case, in touch with the top 6.

Last night was indicative of not just this season but the last one as well.

I thought we were the better team, created the better chances, yes they had spells too and Le Fee was the best player on the pitch, but I never felt we would lose, even at 1-2 down. Only the freak own goal so late left me to accept defeat, but they were never the better team.

I didnt find the substitutions baffling.
In particular replacing Forss with Conway could easily have been a match winner.
The subs were fine, it’s just something people have latched onto and it’ll likely be a thing that sticks the rest of Carrick’s time here.

As for the OG absolutely I’d feel different if it never went in, I’d probably even feel different if defending like that was a rarity but it’s every single week at this point and it’s just tiresome.

I understand the sentiment Mr Clown, but as I've said before, the frustration bares from the knowledge that this club could be performing so much better on the pitch, and a more experienced coach gets more from this pool of players.

We're not all baying for Carrick's blood, but some acknowledgement that there are currently flaws in the process - not the players, the process and the leadership. No business worth their salt puts a business management system in place, performs at 5/10 year on year and sticks with the same processes. We can't keep on with the same tricks between now and May otherwise I do believe we'll finish in the bottom half.
