If Everton finish more than 9pts out of relegation zone

I thought the rules were changed after Leeds did that years ago so that teams can't take advantage.
Or was that something different?

I am sure that is correct, but think only applies to the EFL, and has a specific date / match week that the deductions move in to next season.

Surprisingly this is not replicated in the premier league, and no rules on when the deduction can/can’t be applied.

On that I always thought the punishment was higher than 9, more like 12

That's only in the EFL.

As far as I can see, there's no cut-off point for the deduction in the Premier League.

If that's the case they'd be daft not to take advantage. Which may or may not then trigger the Premier League to introduce a cut-off for future miscreants.

For all the anger if it happened

A) They'd be mad not to do it in that situation
B) it might get the loophole closed for the future

They've just withdrawn their appeal on the second points deduction, so they're obviously feeling very secure now.

A part of me wants them to go for it with administration just to see the fallout from it all.

They're F***ing financially anyway, might be entertaining to see the outrage of them gaming the system.

Administration should be a last resort, resulting in years and years of working yourself back to the level you were once at.

Said it before on numerous Derby threads, which subsequently turned out to be true in Derby's case, they'll wipe millions in debt, spend one or two seasons away from the championship then return in a far healthier financial state than the majority of clubs who have played by the rules and paid what they owed.

And they might.
Likelihood is they will file for administration this season instead of next.

It’s a shtitty situation
they should then be informed to pay their creditors 100p in the £1.. to be allowed to continue in the league - as we did..

Should also be disallowed from signing any players & loans for their next 5 Premier League seasons..

Can't be allowed to game / skew the system like that..

** maybe also can't spend more than 50% on salaries for next 5 PL seasons also..
