If could go back to see any past Boro home game ?

I always thought that the Chelsea 7-2 was a Saturday 3pm game - I suppose in December if might have felt like a night game. I didn't go to many night games as a kid and I definately remember that one (1-0 down and my dad was having a right whinge!)

Saturday afternoon kickoff

1-0 down to Peter Osgoods 2bd debut & manager Danny Blanchflowers 1st fame in charge
A few games before & games after the 7-2 win were defeats & draws
As if that win came out of nowhere

I'd like to see Wilf or Cloughie in their pomp if I had the chance.

If you listen to the naysayers then a lot of people could actually go back and see 'that' game at Hartlepool ;) It's always amazed me that people would doubt you if you said you were there.

Gawd - for us oldies its a tough un
But
The first game at The Riverside. Went with my brother and we were both extremely emotional when we first came up the steps and sobbed on each other’s shoulders. How far the club had come......
He died at the dreadfully young age of 44 with the big C and I cherish memories like that.
Yes i lost my Boro supporting Brother at the age of 49 to the big c and I've never been able to go back to the Riverside. RIP

And now for a considered response I would say at the Riverside either the Basle or Steau games.

At Ayresome (so many), I'll say the game v Wigan for promotion .

100% the Steau game, that explosion of emotion in the 89th minute wouldn't matchable.
Obviously I'd only want to go if I wasn't aware of the result or what the final would amount to.

I would have to go for Boro v Newcastle with over 53k in Ayresome Park, our biggest ever home crowd, Mannion, Hardwick and co, that would tick a lot of boxes for me.

Others I would do whilst the time machine was on hire are the first games at Albert Park, the Linthorpe Road ground and then Ayresome Park - imagine being there for the first match at brand new Ayresome!

And just for posterity, I would have to slot in a derby match with Ironopolis, probably away at the Paradise Ground.

For me it's March 2004 when we beat Birmingham 5-3 with Maccarone (2), Southgate, Mendietta & Nemeth on the scoresheet

What an epic game with a scoreline like that

The thing is, I was meant to be there, travelling up from down south for my birthday. Unfortunately we got stuck in traffic on the A19 due to an accident, and we missed the whole match. Gutted, to say the least.

Mad game that. Thing is I don't think we even played particularly well, but Brum defence was terrible.

Steaua is an obvious choice, but I do like the idea of seeing Mannion at his best.

Wouldn't mind going back to see Juninho (and Emerson/Rav) at the peak of his powers again. West Ham or Coventry in the league or maybe Newcastle in the cup.

Has to be Steart for me as well, simply for the drama and incredible ending and also listening to Ali Brownlie's commentary over and over again.
I actually watched it again just so few days ago on YouTube.
That night had everything and I can't see that being repeated, well not in my life time.
The playoff game against Brighton had a remarkable atmosphere again it maybe a long time until we experience that again.
So many games from Ayresome Park as well, such happy memories.
Brilliant question, really gets you going down memory lane.

Without a doubt the Steau game. But the ZDS semi v Villa has always stuck in my memory, probably because games when you're a kid are more exciting.

Two 4-1 victories at different grounds and for different purposes.

Firstly the Newcastle game in 1990 at AP, which we needed to win in order to stay in the old second division and they needed to win to get promoted to the top flight. Still remember Yogi giving Kevin Scott the donkey ears!

Second would be the victory over Oxford United at the Riverside in 1998 to regain our place in the Premier League. Another game where our win also meant that near neighbours, this time Sunderland, were denied promotion - made even better by their subsequent play off final defeat!

Has to be Steaua 2nd leg but Swindon 6-0 at home in '98 was a special night to go back top and Leeds 4-1 back at ayersome in '92 just because it was the only game I ever attended with my late mother.

ZDS Semi v Villa.
Dreamland pure and simple. We'd finally got there after years of false starts and shattered dreams. Only spoiled by Gordon Cowans when he cynically nailed Trevor Putney and broke his leg.
Slavens goal was superb. Received the ball with his back to goal. One touch, then a real strikers finish into the top corner.
Walking down Linthorpe road to Steve's Rendezvous for a celebratory parmo with a mixture of feelings of shock and ecstasy.

I was a kid so don't remember much about the actual game. But Paul Kerrs goal will live long in the memory.
