Those stats somehow don’t do him justice. Rightly voted Boro’s best ever player a number of years ago Imo.

His ability to dictate the pace of a game, his tacking, range of passing, free kick ability and aground package was recognised as driving Liverpool to five titles three European Cups and four League Cups. Phenomenal player.
 
As mentioned by most who saw him play for us our best ever player plus I'd say he is the best all round British midfielder I have seen.

That record at Liverpool is unbelievable. Not sure many Liverpool players can boast those honours.
 
Attitude, physicality, skill, vision, range of passes, goal scoring- he had everything. Dominated the middle of the park. Think of the love child of Roy Keane, Glenn Hoddle and Frank Lampard. Will never forget his goal from about 25yards and his all round performance in the legendary Leicester Floodlights game. Sublime.
 
I remember him stating before he still watches out for Boro results too. Shame I'm not old enough to have seen him play.
