I wonder if the royal death

Fortunately in NZ there are no breakfast news programmes on the mainstream TV at weekends otherwise it would be dominating too. That said the staple NZ favourite Country Calendar is on at the moment and unprecedentedly accompanying it is a banner at the bottom proclaiming his passing.

Its honestly like something out of North Korea
All BBC radio, even local, were pumping out R4 coverage. Same people telling the same antidotes. Whilst it’s sad for some, relatively speaking, to others it was just news. No escape from it on BBC - an example of how the beeb are being told to toe the line.

Sometimes the old adage “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything” applies. Somebody has died, be respectful; whether you are monarchist or republican. Not a lot to ask really is it?

Respect is one thing. Wall to wall "tributes" is another. Was there really no other news at all today?
There was very little else covered for best part of a year with Covid, was there really no other news at all in 2020? As I said, it’s 1 day, and your tv has an off button.

Turn on the TV and plenty of coverage - which is fine. However turn on 6music and Mark Radcliffe announces that ‘due to the death of the DofE we sound a little different today’. As a public service surely the beeb can provide for those who are less interested in this event?

All 9 bbc national radio stations broadcast the exact same programme yesterday, just seemed pointless

I agree with that fully
It’s just that the comment usually comes to the fore after someone has died and normally trotted out (not by you btw) by those happy to say not very nice things to those living.
I find that odd.

I imagine plenty of MPs will be trying to push journalists to publish their stories of corruption and lies today. Get them out into the public domain and instantly ignored. This is a very good day to bury bad news
terrible statement for which you have no evidence whatsoever !!!!(n)(n)

Hang on - you are seriously saying there is no evidence of MPs trying to bury bad news?
I’m not sure you have being paying attention.

In other news btw babestation showed their respects by cancelling their progs last night.
It’s what he would have wanted.
