Starmer was clapping last night and was being filmed. His daughter was on the other side of the road and he wanted to get her. He acknowledged he was being filmed and asked if the cameraman had got enough. The cameraman said yes so Starmer called his daughter over.

Cue Daily Mail bile for ‘blatant photo opportunist’

Interestingly The Telegraph have given him a good slot today though - for the 2nd time in recent weeks. Maybe hedging their bets at the moment.

Surely the clapping is a personal thing anyway or are people going to be pressurised a like at poppy day. I will be honest here and say I have never been out and clapped. I forgot about the first one and I think the repeats are helping the government(with the assistance from the media) diverting from the shambles that is happening. While I have total respect for the NHS staff(and many others working through this) you can't eat claps, you can't pay your mortgage with claps. Pay these people the wage they deserve and I will be the first one out with my frying pan.

I stand back and await pelting with rotten fruit.

I'd hope that everyone clapping or not will remember the NHS when it comes to putting an X on a ballot paper.
Any party that does not make a cast iron commitment to increase pay across the NHS, care homes and all those low paid jobs that have kept this country going should be running of town in my opinion.
If the Thursday clapping keeps that issue at the front of people's minds then it is worth it, whether you take part or not.

Konrad I've followed various applause threads on here and haven't seen any virtue signalling. All I've seen is civilized discussion/debate of the pros and cons. Could you point me in the right direction with a link please? Ta.
