I owe Chuba an apology.

This is something which I don't understand.

Many of us were calling for Watmore to start more games last season but Wilder seemed reluctant to start him.

I think it's fair to say many of us have accepted now that he's better utilised coming off the bench yet Wilder is now choosing to start him.

Forss and Akpom need minutes so surely it would have made more sense to have given them both 60/70 minutes last night.
Tbh I’ve never understood the fan fare around Watmore.

He struggles to play 60 minutes and you’ll very rarely get a run of weekend / midweek games where he’s fit enough to start which means we don’t get much chance to build team cohesion.

He’s a decent impact sub, but he’s just not at the quality level for where we want to be.

Watmore has been poor for a while now (including the end of last season). Not sure what it is, as he had previously been pretty good ever since Warnock gave him a chance. He seems a fairly confident lad, but something is affecting his play and I can’t see wilder selecting him if he is injured/carrying a knock.

Watmore is a great impact player, as many people quoted, coming off the bench with his burst of pace can change a game, but he struggles if he starts games.
I wouldn't mind him been on the subs bench, however if we get another 2 strikers in, as Wilder speaks about, then he will be moved on..
Can’t remember when he last made an “impact”. Seems like a nice bloke, and is intelligent, but his football decision making is poor. Once he gets the ball and sets off on a head down run, you just know that nothing will come of it. His team mates know it too, which must change the dynamic of those attacking phases.

Need to change the title of this thread like.
As for Chuba, he looks interested and maybe Wilders man management is getting him invested in the club again.

Yes lately hes been off it, but when was the last time we had a forward player, play consistently well/intelligent football? and impact the game?
Yes its head down many times with him, but at least he does win the ball back and his pressing does not allow the opposite team to settle at the back and slow the game down, he is ideal to bring on as a sub for last 20mins, but I as said before he will be moved on, if we sign 2 more forwards..

Akpom will not get goals in any reasonable quantity for us. He has missed good chances in first two games. If I had to keep one it would be Watmore. Everyone keeps saying he is better coming on as an impact sub. Well if we get other strikers in thats the only role we expect him to play.
