I have truly mixed feelings over derby...

Just read on twitter that administrators are saying if Boro and Wycombe don't drop claims then they'll likely liquidate. This has come from an MP that's had meetings with the administrators.

It also mentions that Boro made a deal with the EFL after Gibson threatened legal action for failure to punish Derby appropriately. Not sure what that deal is, but clearly there has been a failure at the EFL, wasn't Morris ont eh EFL board at the point of time they cheated and were not punished?

Anyway, Morris has a personal fortune of about 515mill according to sunday times rich list....he could resolve this all tomorrow. He could do the moral thing and pay up for his outragous cheating, and he could personally pay off every single debt that Derby has accrued without even noticing it, but it seems his ego, his love of himself is more important than his love of derby.

Because this last few days have been dominated by Derby claiming we are trying to destroy them which has taken away from our concentration on our team. We are being labelled as the bad guys and that hurts the image of our club which I support. And for the first time I am starting to doubt Gibson's decision making. I think he should back down over all this personally.
I very much doubt it has even entered Wilder’s or the players thoughts. They will be concentrating on one thing only, and that is beating Blackburn.

this from their forum:

"If we ever get out of this mess I think we need to reassess who our true rivals are, Forest are simply down the road and want to see us relegated. Boro on the other hand want to liquidate us.

Honestly, whatever happens I will always have more hatred to Middlesbrough then I ever will Forest."

that interview is class! although VERY worrying for Derby.. sounds like they are dead in the water administrators not really doing their job by the sound of it Mel Morris holding onto assets etc The Wycombe chairman is very level headed and pragmatic I'm a big fan.. like him a lot!
It was a brilliant listen. I liked how he said he'd turn his plane around halfway back to America to resolve it but the call never came. sums up the ineptitude of the administrators who are either out of their depth or have buried their head in the sand in the hopes that our claims would just disappear.

I can't see Wilder or the players allowing this to get in the way. If I'm honest I doubt it's even on their radar.

That just doesn't seem likely. That isn't what is going on here. It's a hugely complicated situation and if you have a read of my post above as to the role and duties of an administrator you will see just how difficult it is with all the moving parts. Some administrators are worse than others but let's not pretend that it is as easy as it is being described in certain quarters or that the Wycombe owner is the most independent of authorities.

Interesting if that’s true, but it still doesnt mean that Boro have done anything wrong. Sounds like MP’s trying to build support from their local constituents though.

The position remains that at any time the Administrators can meet with Boro and Wycombe and come to an agreement. They can then move on, but they are refusing to engage.

As you say, Morris could sort this tonight if he wanted to. The administrators, MP’s, EFL, journalists and fans should be sending all of the aggression that way.

even forgetting Boro and Wycombe claims, he could pay off all their debts and secure funding for the season (yes they'd likely break FFP again but at least the club would fight another day), he could then either have his arbitration/court battle with Boro and Wycombe or indemnify the new owners from any future losses to Boro/Wycombe via court/arbitration.

Our case is a red herring, planted in the media, it's Mel's final attempt to vexatiously harm Gibson for daring to hold him to the rules.

No, no no - it's all Middlesbrough, Gibson's, Wycombe, Mary Berry, Postman Pat's, etc, etc fault

NEVER DERBY
We are all the b'stards under the sun too, why don't we have more sympathy for these poor fans.. who want to trash our stadium and team up with hoolie firms to fight our fans.. oh and the excrement "THEY POO WHERE THEY WANT" apparently.

Note to Derby County fans: Mel Morris

I'm just going off our statement which said that there has been no contact at all since November and they ignored our correspondence. I don't believe we'd commit that to a statement if it weren't true. I have no doubt it will be a nightmare of a situation for the administrators to try to resolve.

Agreed - but it might be because of the bids and not wanting to prejudice anything. Who knows? Tough gig though being an administrator.

Derby's issues and indeed future are very much in the hands of the administrators and Mel Morris, I sympathize for their fans but cannot fault the actions of Wycombe's chairman or Steve Gibson's. The rules are in place for a reason, their chairman chose to break those rules and their fans were well aware of this. This has been going on for YEARS now Wycombe got dragged into the situation because Mel Morris chose to game the system.. unfortunately as with the overspending which a financial implication also.

I don't see Derby County's plight to be any less than that of Wycombe's or our own. It is simply not acceptable, other clubs have fallen foul of poor management and poor/corrupt ownership Leeds, Sunderland, Wigan, Blackpool, Darlington to name a few.. their situation is not our fault and we shouldn't have to pay for their wrongdoings. Mel Morris still has an £80m stadium to part with and their squad still has many saleable assets. The administrators and Mel Morris don't seem to have Derby County's best interests at heart.

The argument that the club has been punished and our claims would somehow lead to other clubs flouting FFP facing punishment does not wash with me. They know where the blame lies and I'm sure if they took a moment they could see a way out. Mike Ashley has been mentioned who I think would be good for Derby in a way.. although he does have a track record of picking up very valuable assets/brands for next to nothing. My gut feeling is that Derby County will be liquidated, Mel Morris will retain the stadium and their fans will continue to point the finger at boro!

The EFL dragged their feet on this and failed to enforce their rules in good time, the fact that they have now enforced their rules means they have removed themselves from any liability.. you can't blame the EFL for Derby County cheating.. over and over again to the detriment of other clubs. Oh, and if it wasn't to the detriment of other clubs.. why did they do it in the first place?!?!

There's talk of Jason Knight being sold for £8m but they have no money? Hmm £4m a piece to Boro and Wycombe would start the ball rolling if it is only Boro and Wycombe holing up their takeover by four interested parties.

"Derby, the English league champions in 1972 and 1975, are £83 million in debt, which includes an unpaid tax bill of £26m, plus unpaid transfer instalments to various clubs amounting to £8.3m" - again 'Mel Morris still has an £80m stadium to part with'

SWAP are still available..

LB Lee Buchanan for Hayden Coulson
MF Jason Knight for Marcus Browne
MF Max Bird for Lewis Wing
LW Louie Sibley for Toyosi Olusanya

they get paid no matter what the outcome, I'm not even sure if they are motivated to save the club.. might just mean more fees coming their way?

I angered a Derby fan by stating that with Steve Gibson insisting sustainability rules were followed by Derby he was more concerned about the long term future of the club than Mel Morris was.

Can't really argue with it

Ahh I wonder if you've been annoying the same person as me ("Thomas Marples") who has now started following me in a move that I find creepy.

No, the administrators I have dealt with are all supremely professional and take their duties very seriously. It's like anything else, some are better than others.

I've spent too long arguing with them, just going round in circles really. I'll end up blocking the tw t at about teatime I reckon :D
I never realised such a high percentage of the Derby population were legally qualified. I should've moved there when I was trying to qualify!
