I have truly mixed feelings over derby...

We are traditionally the victims of other things oe injustices either actually or in our heads 😊 but I would rather the EFL/FA were the ones holding rhe gun to derby's forehead...metaphorically.
Gibbo will always be one of the fathers of teesside in a way....and I do applaud him holding derby to account.
But I am truly torn...I don't want boro to be the reason derby go to the wall...they are a part of English football heritage.
The fact gibbo is doing this shows what a toothless bunch of wan%ers the football authorities are
They should be rooting it out...they should be ensuring compliance so people like Mel Morris can't f%%% over a good football club

I hope gibbo and Mike Ashley come to a fair compromise ...but we will forever be cast as the pantomime villain here and rhats wrong

Anyway have to go and polish my statue of chrissy wilder on my mantelpiece and stare at his picture for a few hours....
😉
UTFB....Chrissy wilders red and white army

Apart from paper talk from the likes of the sun. Do we actually know the compensation claim or monies involved. I've seen the £45 million been talked about laods but that was b***ks based on betting odds etc

If you compare the punishment they have had to say Bolton or Bury it's absolutely nothing. Bury out of business, Bolton relegation, relegation again and all their players sold off, played a team of kids in League Two. Yet we have Derby who have done much worse think they should hold onto their players and they have been punished enough? Can't figure that out myself, I mean they haven't even received any punishment for the blatant cheating of accounts, they got 12 points for admin and 9 points for FFP breaches, but didn't they fail ffp three times? and didn't they late filing of ffp

I'm not sure why they feel so entitled to be treated better than those two clubs in spite of those others being mismanaged rather than Machiavellian AND mismanaged like Derby

I'd like to think Gibson knows what he's doing (despite voting Tory and supporting Houchen ) and Derby aren't some innocent victim of extraneaous circumstance.

We were relegated for not fielding a team despite the authorities saying they knew we did everything in good faith.

Arsenal (as a for instance) have just cancelled a match because they only had 30 odd of their squad available.

West Ham got away with playing two illegal players.

It's not great for the Derby fans but they weren't protesting against Morris on a weekly basis when they were doing well so I no longer have much sympathy with the plights of clubs that have taken the ****.

I was mid 20's in '86 and remember those dark days vividly, like my contempories. A lot of talk at the time was about making an example for other clubs to follow. Utter b***ks of course, and the dawn of the Premiership seemed to legitimise the necessary excess to get there! I've got some sympathy for Derby fans, but a hell of a lot more for Wycombe fans and believe any reparations should go their way first.

They don't seem to understand. They accept that Morris was to blame for them getting into the current situation but they think that the points deduction is suitable punishment. Basically they are confident they can get back to being a playoff candidate in the championship fairly quickly with everything behind them. It is the risk of the club being liquidated which is currently hanging over them which can be settled instantly if Gibson and Wycombe dropped their cases so in a way I can kind of see where they are coming from. However, they were happy with Morris when he was flagrantly breaking the rules, there was no protests against the way they were running the club and they supported it as a means to an end. They really should have faced much more severe punishments, and it should have happened sooner. If they dodge relegation it'll be a great achievement but definitely sends the wrong message because it shows that there is no real punishment for consistently breaking the rules.

Ultimately the EFL (and Morris obviously) are to blame because they haven't enforced their own rules which is leaving owners like Gibson having to do the policing of the league. I'd be very interested to hear how other owners are currently viewing Gibson. I wonder if they agree that Derby haven't really be punished or whether they think he shouldn't be sticking his nose in to other club's business.

There's more Derby threads than Boro on this board at the moment!

I don't really give a toss about them or what their fans think about us either.

I can understand their anger and having been through 86 have sympathy with their long standing fans. With that in mind I can't see Gibson wanting to send Derby into liquidation and think that Derby fans should be looking closer to home for solutions or scapegoats. The potential buyers and administrators are trying to get the best deal and it's obviously better if they don't have liabilities hanging over them from a previous regime, That's why the Derby fans should be hounding Mel Morris and the EFL, as this liability is his and the EFL 's poor enforcement of their Financial Fair Play rules has allowed this to occur. Punishment should have been inflicted while Morris was still in charge and his regime should have born the financial cost. I don't suppose Morris and his acolytes are currently living in poverty? Meanwhile expect Ashley to settle this with a couple of trackies, Tom Lawrence and Lewis Sibley and have them pushing for promotion next year!

One question: Would Boro fans protest the club spending too much money?

Fans always want money spent and don't really care about the consequences until its too late. At any club, not just Derby. The keyboard warrior nutters going after Gibson are just that - nutters. I'm pretty certain your average Derby fan isn't stupid enough to blame Gibson for the mess they are in.

From a fan perspective you have to have some sympathy - despite some of the posts from a mintrity of their fans against Gibbo I’m sure most of their fans are just like you or iI. The ironic thing is despite their cheating or whatever you want to call it it’s not like their fans really got anything out of it.

personally I just wish the efl would get their act together get rules and procedures in place so nobody is left guessing and in limbo when these types of things happen.

because we had '86... I've always been suspect about spending - ridiculous £ on players - & the proof is in the Monk splurge... bad & expensive signings drain a club for the length of the contract...

Give me a few cheap gems to polish.... Jones for example, even Spence... than 'established' never quite has been....

As for Derby.... MM is the cause of their headache... & Everton may just add to it if they get Rooney (never thought I'd say that)

I have no sympathy for them in the slightest. I have yet to see any acceptance they did anything wrong but are content to blame everyone else for the state they find themselves in.

True, however I suspect Gibson going nuclear on the compensation claim is what made up Morris's decision to put them into administration. He wanted out before any expectation that he would have to cough up for his wrong doings. Ego, pride, greed, and cowardice from Morris.

From social media and messageboards it would seem like at least 95% hate him and blame him

I'm a little concerned that we need a some players out right now to balance the books, and I'd take it on the chin and blame Gibson if we failed ffp

I think maybe it's just good housekeeping for the 4 out & also importantly frees up spaces in the 25 man squad (only u21 players are 'free' anyone over 21 has to be named in the 25...
