I have a horrible suspicion NW won’t stay

I am sure you will have realised that Monk had £45M and Pulis £22M or so, plus loanees at their disposal, Warnock has had what exactly, players out of contract largely not replaced, a CB deal for Hall that was agreed before Warnock's appointment, the loan of a player he has not wanted and a CF who came in under his approval for what £2.75M.

I suspect your judgement of him is based on years of being fed tripe by the media more than personal knowledge. His record is incredible. He is warm, engaging, humorous and the finest motivator of a footballer I have ever had the privilege to meet. He has incredible passion for his team and respect from most that have played for him. Boro would be in league one right now but for him and Blackwell and Jepson, lets not forget them too.
Well said

The truth is that we're in an unprecedented pandemic and the club has barely any income so will be haemoraging money. Warnock knows thats why we can't spend rather than Gibson not being the chairman he thought he was.
Obviously that doesn't help but Gibson hadn't exactly been splashing the cash before Covid, if anything because of all the cost cutting we should be in a stronger position than many/some I'd have said.

We all know the benefits of being promoted, with someone like Warnock it's a calculated risk - the reward is huge.

Warnock is working miracles with this squad, tosayhe isn't completely baffles me, his man Management is nothing short of genius.
We better we careful what we wish for, I appreciate it's all about opinion but we need to face the hard realities of the world we live in and our dire financial plight.
Warnock for me anyday.
Is he working miracles or was it just that Woodgate was so bad. Previous to that we were always up and around the play offs most of the time.
Maybe he expected a bit more backing from Gibson. He said himself, albeit tongue in cheek, that he "thought he had a gold mine but he had nowt" when he came here. May have been a joke with a bit more to it.

I can assure you he knew exactly what he had at his disposal when he agreed to stop on in July, he was clearly joking, it is his dry sense of humour. Read my earlier post re why I think he is actually working miracles compared to his predecessors who were really well backed. Even Woodgate had a better and bigger squad.

Probably get pelters for this, but I couldn't care less if left.

He's got us in a similar place to where Pulis got us, Monk had us, and probably any half decent manager would get us. Woodgate failed obviously, and he's an exception, but I don't think Warnock is doing anything another experienced manager couldn't do.
Not a chance that Pulis or Monk take over that squad and turn it around so quickly. I’m also fairly confident if NW took over at the time that Pulis or Monk did we would be in the prem by now

Bit unfair to say he has us no better than Monk or Pulis. That might be what the table says but the squad is considerably smaller and weaker than the squads they managed. Under Monk, for example, we had 5 main strikers and he bought three of them. Under Pulis we had about 6 or 7 centre midfielders, again many of them he recruited.

I didnt know whether the Gazette would feel it was something they could report on or not but the accident I mentioned on the A66 was a very serious one and Neil Warnock was very close to it and understandably really shaken by seeing it.
He stepped straight out of his car and into the press conference. You can imagine how he was feeling.

That's what matters, you don't get awarded points for having less strikers on the bench.
True, but in order to get the points on the board, like any workman, you need the tools of the trade at your disposal. He was left a toolbox missing vital components, especially in that final 3rd after Gibson allowed £70M+ to be largely wasted on inferior quality

Monk the other day was banging on in general about teams needing pace and creativity in the final 3rd. The bare faced cheek after what he left us with. Just think about what he did to us with £45M....... jeez the man seems a bigger charlatan than Ali Dia and Dominic Chappell rolled into one.

You can not reasonably and fairly compare the squads and talent as you have and think he has achieved nothing. He has taken the squad massively forwards in the space of a few month from where we were when he took over after village did his best to relegate us.

So then it is not about Warnock is it? It's about the club. You've just totally blown your argument. That's like saying that Solskjaer is the best manager in the Premier League as they are top, when actually there are better managers doing better with the resources they have like Rodgers, Smith or Hasenhuttl.

We get it, you like him and think he's done well.

I don't like him and don't think he's done well.

It's a results business, that's why Woodgate got sacked, and that's all I care about rather than comparing squads.

Errr no I haven't.

Managers get sacked for the number of points they win, not simply because people objectively think one manager has done better than the other.

Tables don't get calculated based on resources, they get calculated on points won and the current messiah has won similar points to Pulis and Monk.

Managers are clearly judged on far more than just the number of points they get and you're being obtuse if you pretend otherwise.

Monk was given £50m to meld a squad full of recent Premier League players, spent far more than any other team in the league, and had us struggling to keep pace with the pack in 9th when he was sacked.

Pulis was given an 18 month contract to try and salvage the mess Monk left, then to reduce costs, and left at the end of it, part of the reason for that being because his position had become untenable with the fans after somehow dropping out of the play-offs after being in such a solid position for the majority of the season.
It sounded like Gibson wanted to keep him on.

Woodgate was part of a great cost cutting and a promotion of youth, and the only target was to stay in the league, he was sacked after a truly abysmal performance and team selection when we looked in real danger of getting relegated.

All 3 managers had different starting points, different objectives and different expectations.

I'm not really sure Monk v Warnock is a fair comparison. Monk had Randolph, Traore, Bamford and Braithwaite. I don't think we've got anyone in the current squad on that level. Pulis, while his style might not have been to everyone's tastes, kept us competing at the right end of the table whilst selling our most saleable assets but on blanance had a more talented squad at his disposal (just).

Over/under performance versus expectations is probably the key metric for managerial performance (getting more or less out of the squad at your disposal).

Under Monk we were joint favourites to win the league - sacked at Xmas with us 9th.

Surprisingly perhaps, the bookies had us second favourites for Pulis only full season, therefore a 7th place is probably underwhelming.

Skybet had us finishing 11th before the start of this season, currently performing above expectations

Lizards is on a wind up surely.

If points is the only measure of a manager's worth it means Lampard has done a better job than Bielsa.

Not a wind up, and perhaps I'm making it a bit black and white, but I really don't get the fuss over Warnock and don't think he's done an amazing job, an OK one certainly but nothing special IMO.

As I say, I also don't think he's a likable bloke, but understand that some on here have got a teenage girl like crush on the man - I don't get that either.

You don't like him, yet say you have never met him and call him whatever lay behind the asterisks you used. You do judge him so unfairly. I accept thats your right though. I guarantee he’d have you won over in 20 minutes in his company. As for your teenage crush comment, you mean like you with your sad defence of Mowbray after the Sunday game? 🤔
