I hate the modern world

Certainly use the ignore button, my fmttm is much nicer since I ignored two really sad feckers .One of which must be responder 41 on this thread. I don't have to react to the down right nastiness of the odd poisened soul on here. There are plenty of really nice people to engage with ( as is shown on this thread).
I know it's near impossible now but try to engage with others at least once a day. A neighbour, a shop assistant anyone. Just a few words will help. Go for a walk. Try to focus on the future not the past or the now.

I can see that."I never realised that politeness was a prerequisite of this board."
Oh and btw you havent pressed the ignore button on me, but please do.

Always had sympathy for anybody who struggles for whatever reason, and negativity on here easily sets people off.
It was a reply like any starting remark to most conversations."life is what you make it" ... it wasnt "I dont give a fck" or "I hate you moaning" .

I have more often than than not replied to Scubahood over a course of more than 15 years with encouragement lots and lots of times. Ive also seen somebody say something innocuous and end up getting banned because people go hysterical and accuse people of not understanding... well when they just say the slightest thing.
There is always somebody who speaks out without experience and ends up getting banned, must have seen this happen 5 or 6 times easily.

Over the years many have been temporarily banned or banned altogether for getting involved by offering a few words like, dont drink alcohol or taking drugs and to think positive... maybe how I would talk to a mate.
I've now learnt my lesson, I will STFU and never get involved with the subject again. These sort of conversations will continue to happen.

Hope today looks brighter, Scuba. Yesterday is the first time I've seen blue sky for ages, and it just reminded me that better times do return.
I think it's good that your expectation of others remains high, although your experience tells you you'll often be disappointed. Points to a good moral compass.

My expectation is that people shouldn't 't be told to pull themselves together or make life work for themselves. However ignorance abounds, which disappoints me.

I apologise if I misinterpreted your comment, ticker.

I think a little context is needed. If someone is wheelchair bound it's no good telling them to get themselves up Roseberry Topping to enjoy the views. 1:2 UTB

True, in many ways, but not set in stone.

Communicating effectively means not only taking responsibility for what is said but also how you are being heard. People's perceptions of you quickly, and often unfairly, become your reputation. People do tend to listen through their own filters, and don't always want to make sure you are being heard correctly.

Reactions to comments on something like a message board may often be driven by the desire to comply.

Let's not judge the comments of others too harshly because of how you think you are expected to see them.

I'm certain, that all of us on here, support anyone who is struggling in whatever way.
