To have signed nobody at this stage of a pre-season - considering we employ a ‘head of football’ and a recruitment and scouting department and have known about the glaring holes and deficiencies in our team and squad for at least a full 6 months - is, in my opinion, absolutely shocking.
This idea that loads of players are going to turn up in the next 4,5 weeks and everything will be fine… it isn’t going to happen. We’re going to finish 9th and we’re going to try and be better in 2027.
The red flags were there when Edwards was talking about needing time and whatnot. The point of having a ‘head of football’ and a ‘model’ is that it’s supposed to bring a sense of seamlessness, an end to 2 or 3 year eras or rebuilds. Yet we find ourselves in the middle of yet another rebuild and in a weaker position now than we were in May.
It’s not right. The red flags are there imo. They have been there for at least a year and they are as vivid as ever. In my opinion.
