I feel an incoming today

Medical has been passed they saying on ONEBORO incoming very soon announced
Callum Brittain would be my best guess. one of the only linked names not to be shot down and we've even had conformation of our interest. Blackburn Rovers have also signed Ryan Alebiosu on a 3-year deal.. Callum Brittain is/was going into his final year.

US and Derby in for him suggested

I for one am concerned by the lack of movement in or out. You just know we'll be left finalising our squad on deadline day and not having enough time to get replacements in.

Me too. Not only that but anyone who comes in late on is going to take time to get integrated into the squad. We have a tough looking start to the season and could find ourselves having to try and play catch up yet again.

Harry Watling said.. Rangers is when it really starts. Preseason is pre season.. a trip away etc.. but the friendlies is where it’s at. 26th of July.. couple of incoming next week and you have just under two weeks with the group.

Right back has to be the number one priority.. then everything else can fall into place. Centre back depending on how our current crop are looking. McCabe, Woolston and Johnson vying for a spot in midfield. A right sided attacker.. could be a bit of wiggle room there.. and a striker.

2, 5, 9, 15, 19

Then we’ve got the safety net of loans to fall back on..

3? 7? 16? 17? 20?

To have signed nobody at this stage of a pre-season - considering we employ a ‘head of football’ and a recruitment and scouting department and have known about the glaring holes and deficiencies in our team and squad for at least a full 6 months - is, in my opinion, absolutely shocking.

This idea that loads of players are going to turn up in the next 4,5 weeks and everything will be fine… it isn’t going to happen. We’re going to finish 9th and we’re going to try and be better in 2027.

The red flags were there when Edwards was talking about needing time and whatnot. The point of having a ‘head of football’ and a ‘model’ is that it’s supposed to bring a sense of seamlessness, an end to 2 or 3 year eras or rebuilds. Yet we find ourselves in the middle of yet another rebuild and in a weaker position now than we were in May.

It’s not right. The red flags are there imo. They have been there for at least a year and they are as vivid as ever. In my opinion.

Could you talk in terms of 1 to 11 please so we understand?

Viv has hit the nail on the head, the coach/manager should just be like another squad member if we are actually following this model.
It does sound like we are changing the way we will play a yet again so we are essentially building a new team rather than adding players that'll make the way we played under Carrick more effective. We weren't far off, but because we haven't properly utilised the talent we had by adding to it then we've wasted the ability of Jones, Rogers, Akpom, LL etc and got no further forward.
Expect mid-table again and a further regression in terms of being left behind and becoming a perennial mid-table also ran. We'll probably see Conway do well and be moved on while we look for the next project to keep us solvent but stationary.
