I don’t like Argentina

All of those players weren't alive when they lost that war. How does that really affect them? It's like the Irish kids spouting their hate for the English. I could understand those that lived through the Troubles, but how were the kids affected?

I expect it's another song started by Argentine fans that they're singing, I doubt it's a spur of the moment invention from the players.

The main Argentina chant from this World Cup starts with the line "I was born in Argentina, land of Diego and Lionel, of the kids from the Falkland Islands, whom I'll never forget.", (obviously they say Malvinas), and that was written by a popular Argentine band.

Yeah, some of the stuff I read on Twitter after France knocked us out was pathetic.

I don't mind Argentina.

I thought their antics against Netherlands were poor, but Netherlands brought it on themselves, starting with their manager, LVG, with his pre match comments during his press conferences.

And, the way they treated Martinez when walking up to take the decisive and final spot kick to win the tie was a disgrace, so (although their actions when they won were poor) I don't blame the players for acting like they did in the heat of that humongous moment.

I don't really care who wins, but it would be nice for Messi to see him clinch the crown jewel that's escaped his claws for so long.

It's the only trophy that has eluded him, and he's pretty much done everything he can to win it so far.

Would be fitting for his last ever action of his final World Cup appearance, to be lifting the trophy.

I'm also pretty sure that the song of "Two World wars and one world cup" wasn't exclusively sang by over 70s for the last decade or so, with the over 50s allowed to join in on the last line for reasons of accuracy either.🤣

Actually being alive during a bone of contention is rarely a pre-requisite in football chants.

Because we still occupy Northern Ireland and we still occupy the Falklands

Might be just me but I absolutely love the sh1thousery. Anything you can do to get a psychological edge is far game (or to chip away at your opponent's perceived edge).

Absolutely nothing came out of either to my knowledge so they're pretty savvy in ensuring they can get away with it.

I'd like to see Messi lift the World Cup... & then see Ronaldo's face...
Argentina kick too many players & too many cynical fouls to be liked & admired... France, no real issue with them winning it... though that would mean smug Ronaldo...

WTF, couldn't we have done France... merd..

Yes I hope the French win , not because I hate Argentina ( which I don't) but I am sure I don't know any French people, I have gone out of my way to not offer the hand of friendship to any of them, (mind you some french women are scorchingly hot so I have missed out on one or two occasions) and so I am unlikely to meet anyone who is insufferable because of it, and they do insufferable very well. While I do know a few Argentinians and while their reason for winning it definitely is considerably more than just winding me up, they will definitely take the opportunity when it arises. So boking at my reasons for wanting France to win are that I have minor dislike of them and I'm not likely to meet them. 🤣
