I usually take the bike on a shared trail with dog walkers and it really shocks me just
So this is the dog's fault because...?It's a combination of both. Without the dog there wouldn't be an idiot owner.

I like to take photos tooWhat are your other hobbies :-(
I agree that on a shared trail with bikes that dogs should be on their leads.....mine would have beenI usually take the bike on a shared trail with dog walkers and it really shocks me just how daft some of them are, someone coming towards you at 30+ on a bike yet they will wait until the last second or even not at all to put them on a leader
£1000 a year dog tax in Third Leg’s britain. £2000 for the second. £3000 third and so on.
there are too many
i bet you dont ring your bell to warn the dog walkers either. The majority Just silently whizz pastI agree that on a shared trail with bikes that dogs should be on their leads.....mine would have been
I`ll also ask why on earth are you doing 30+ on a shared trail?
Without the dog the "owner" would still be an idiot just one without a dog. It's a combination of both. Without the dog there wouldn't be an idiot owner.
100% - same as children, it's the adults they learn from"There are good and bad dogs (sometimes at the same time)"
There are NO bad dogs, just bad owners.
Not really much point going on the bike if your crawling, in wide open spaces when people can easily see you coming it’s perfectly safe. Just needs some responsibility on both sidesI agree that on a shared trail with bikes that dogs should be on their leads.....mine would have been

Can people see you if you're cycling from behind them? Not really much point going on the bike if your crawling, in wide open spaces when people can easily see you coming it’s perfectly safe. Just needs some responsibility on both sides
Would always use the bell and slow down in that case until they saw you. People see you coming and still do nothing with dogs though, would always keep ours on lead where bikes may be, it just seems common sense to avoid an accidentCan people see you if you're cycling from behind them?
Noticed the same thing at hamsterley a few weeks back. Must be 50 miles of trails yet people letting the dogs wonder in play areasowners for me. Kids attacked by a muzzled bulldog when younger so still wary.
Go to dog free part of beach, they are there. And usually off lead. Go to national trust where leads only and find them off leads. Go to fenced off play areas with no dog signs and they are there.
Went to hamsterly forest kids trail last week. Dogs on leads, great, yet kids had a dog on a lead walking it up the ramp of kids play area and down the fkin slide. Unbelievable.
Pish everywhere on play equipment.
Have no problem with dogs being around in general but the specific no dog areas should be respected, just like I wouldn't take my kids to a adult only place etc. Lack of respect for others.
i would say 90% dont give any indication when they are behind me you get the odd one that will ring a bell or shout, if i see a bike i always pull off the path and always have my dogs on the lead. It does annoy me when they whizz passed from behind within an inch of me or my dogsWould always use the bell and slow down in that case until they saw you. Yeah it’s just asking for an accident going past someone at speed who hasn’t seen you. Seems to be a result of everyone getting one through lockdown and not really knowing how to ride one. I’ve been all over this summer and some of the things you see from other cyclists is shockingi would say 90% dont give any indication when they are behind me you get the odd one that will ring a bell or shout, if i see a bike i always pull off the path and always have my dogs on the lead. I agree - it's like cyclist who fly onto the pavement to avoid red lights and don't care how they close they are to pedestrians. They're the first to complain when cars get too close to them though.i would say 90% dont give any indication when they are behind me you get the odd one that will ring a bell or shout, if i see a bike i always pull off the path and always have my dogs on the lead. Including climbing on your car and sh!tting on your lawnGive me a any day of the week.

I defend cyclists on here and I ride myself but nobody should be able to object to this post.Note to cyclists; "Shared trails" does not include designated footpaths, you are looking for a "Bridleway"
Now I don't have a problem with cyclists using footpaths but they need to be aware that they do not own it, it is not the personal racetrack. Also I will control my dog (he will sit and wait for you to go past if I give him the command) but I can only do this if I am aware of your approach. I am not fitted with a rear view camera, nor wing mirrors or sixth sense to aid me in this so please make me aware of your imminent arrival. As it appears that bells are no longer "cool" just a polite "excuse me" or similar will do. Thanks.
