I’m out of hospital, in bizarre circumstances (long)

Some people will know I was in hospital since last Thursday.

I have recurring episodes of heavy, unstoppable nose bleeds. Admitted to hospital three times in the last 14 months. Two of those episodes have involved several re-admissions ( discharge, re-bleed within hours, re-admitted)

Each time my nose has been packed and the packs inflated to create pressure on the bleed site (not in my nostril, but beyond that in the nasal cavity)
It was cauterised in December.

ENT protocol says that on the third episode they should escalate to surgery effectively clamping the artery supplying the bleed site, and resolving the problem.

This time I was packed and told on Friday that the pack would not be removed until Monday, when the method of surgery would be decided.

Pack removed, told as it didn’t bleed no surgery. Pointed out their protocol and made my case. Later I was told I would have surgery at 11am. Saw anethetist, gave all clear.
By noon the operation was cancelled and there would be a 24hr wait for a bleed.

Now the bizarre bit. Ironically DUE to Coronavirus lots of patients had cancelled elective operations and the surgeons had gaps Monday and Tuesday, same with anaesthetists, two consultants told me this.

No further bleed overnight, so discharged. I know it will happen again, don’t know where or when. The ENT team know that too

Sorry, but I couldn’t shorten that sorry tale
