I’d argue that this is the worst strike force we’ve ever had

I actually don't agree - the strikers, much like the rest of the team, are much better than they are showing at the moment.

Whilst I don't think the squad is as strong as the one Pulis had at his disposal, its certainly more than good enough to be comfortably in the top half, with a bit to spare.

Woodgate is a young manager with a difficult ask and its showing in the results.

I agree I dont think they are the worst we ever had, but they are definitely underachieving by a long way.
We have gone backwards since christmas and this is down to lack of effort from the players and probably lack of experience from the manager imho.

would never have thought currie would be good enough in the top flight... speedy and a decent shot but came across as a headless chicken frequently falling over

Actually, I'm looking at 2009/10 season and the list of forwards we had that season is surely competition for any other line up.

Scott MacDonald
Leroy Lita
Jeremie Aliadiere
Afonso Alves
Chris Killen
Caleb Folan
Tuncay
Lee Miller
Marcus Bent
Johnathan Franks
Dave Kitson
Luke Williams
Mido isn't listed but only because he failed to return to training after the summer.

Now, I know they weren't all there at the same time and some of them were ok, or in fact very good elsewhere, but that is quite a collection of mediocrity. If only Strachan had brought in Kris Boyd a bit earlier to top it off.

Lee Miller, Chris Killen and Caleb Folan :LOL::LOL:

I think that this is the worst since Maccarone and Nemeth. Didn't Szilard finish top scorer with 8 or 9 goals one year?

In the past 25 years, we have occasionally bought proven, established strikers. Ravanelli, Yakubu, Viduka, Hasselbaink; you knew what we were getting.

Granted, strikers of that calibre in 2020 would go for insane amounts of money, but we still persist on buying strikers without any consideration of what/who helped them succeed elsewhere. (In fact, success at another club seems to be negotiable when signing for Boro now) Meanwhile, team after team gets promoted with 'Who he?' strikers who were signed for peanuts and score more goals than we've seen from a full forward line combined.
'kinell, we'd kill for Maccarone and Nemeth right now.
