Huge swell of support for Neil Warnock!

Rubbish, absolutely rubbish.
there was a big kick off when I called out the anti warnock trolls on oneboro because they didn't go to games and didn't watch matches!

@LouPirolo is a Watford fan whose unqualified position is passed on as 'fact' and 'evidence' by fans of twitter & message board trolls

Peter Swallow is out in Oslo and pins all our woes onto the fact that we don't play Payero even though he was injured.. and the match that he uses as an example is one in which Payero started.

Probably the same reason the Warnock in crowd make out as though we were dead and buried under Woodgate and "Neil" came in and performed a miracle of epic proportions to avoid relegation, even though it was 2 seasons ago. They think that because he took an average team to an average league position, it somehow excuses any future performances and we should be eternally grateful, and we somehow owe him a living.
We were in terminal decline and he turned us round. Now folks are looking back like it was a piece of cake and anyone but Woodgate could have done that job and turned us around. We were still in a mess the season after.. yet we made progress. From the start of the season where folks would have given their right arm for a mid table finish we had folks complaining that we should have been in the playoffs.

Now here we are again.. the easiest thing in the world to have a huge turnover of players and hit the ground running to smash the league after spending next to nothing in the transfer market. TEAR IT UP AND START AGAIN before we've even started because some Doyle Watford fan said we should be playing the high press/tika taka/4-3-3/coaching the players different.. all with a german manager.. no reasoning behind this. just because.

So that's two then, not exactly a vast majority then.

This thread shows how dumb Internet football fans have become. Some fans think they know more about football than our management team. Take Payero for example. NW has managed him perfectly. Slowly but surely. Now look at him. Dumb bed wetters as usual. Stick to Roy of the Rovers

I remain unconvinced by Warnock. I don't like his constant war with referees nor his habit of publicly blaming players for mistakes or decision making. It also seems to me that he has lucked into a formula. He has taken the only players available and slotted them into a formation and style of play that he showed no signs of playing until he was "forced" into it.

We'll see what he does when the injured return. It also has to be noted that we have just beaten three of the poorest teams in the division at a time when they were completely out of form and on the cusp of managerial change. We'll see how we perform when next we meet a top half team who are playing well (so not Birmingham). Away to Luton will be a test and it's not just about winning it is about looking like a "unit", with players playing in positions that they are comfortable and competent in.

At the moment it is a dawn, is it a false dawn?

Decision pending...

I will admit I had reservations at the start of the season about us putting our faith in a manager who has basically set out a retirement date from the minute the season started. I am a big fan of Warnock and totally respect everything he has done in the game and in stabilising the Boro, but I can't help but think it's Ferguson 01/02 esque, where players end up questioning their position at the club twelve months down the line and as such their heads drop and performances suffer (this explains a lot of our early season form in my view).

I am of course happy we've turned a corner in terms of results as any Boro fan should be, but I still think we need to identify a successor as soon as possible, ingratiate him in some way with the club's culture and set players' minds at ease so we can keep up the momentum we've recently built and have a really good season. I wouldn't be averse to promoting from within (e.g. Liddle) provided that those people had a plan and could work within this new model thought up by Gibson, Scott et al, as well as being eased into the role by Warnock as the season progresses.

So.. not after four wins in a row. Because they wouldn't count.. at the moment we've been lucky and stumbled across a way of playing and coaching that has nothing to do with Neil Warnock.

Away at Luton who currently sit 5th will be a very tough game.. in fact at home against Birmingham will be a very tough game. There are no easy games in the championship.

Are you saying that after FIVE wins in a row you would consider revising your opinion on Neil Warnock?

No, why would I? Brum are in pretty awful form. Don't get me wrong I am enjoying our run. I'm not someone who is quick to want the head of a manager and I don't want NW gone.

When many on here were calling for him to go I said that he shouldn't.

Seems to be all or nothing with some on here. Win a few games and we are unstoppable and Warnock is a legend, lose a few and we are hopeless relegation fodder managed by a past it dinosaur.

My take is we are a decent team on our day with a manager who knows what he’s doing but we are currently in transition and not consistent enough to challenge the top 2 but with a bit of luck capable of finishing top 6.

That also applies to a number of teams in the championship so there will be ups and downs as the season progresses!

I don't subscribe to the idea that teams suffering poor runs of form are necessarily easier to play against. For me it can leave them unpredictable and in some cases unmanageable. Getting beat by Hull was a massive blow.. even though we created many chances and defended well (apart from the two goals)

Cardiff's chances for me were superior to Hull's, the magnificent save from Lumley and even the shot that came off the crossbar.. better than Hull's shot that went in off the back of Lumley's head.

A new dawn? a false dawn?

I think we've actually seen a false dusk! Built on the false narratives propagated by online trolls!

We're making steady progress, an improvement on last seasons 10th place would be great.. playoffs has to be the realistic aim for this season imo.

BOOM to BUST appeared to be getting much worse this season you're right.. but we're not even seeing the BOOM anymore!

Why are they on poor runs then?
there's no concrete answer for this there are 101 different reasons as to why teams are on poor runs (not getting results against teams obvs)

injuries to key players, large turnover of players, unsettled players, unsettled backroom... etc etc

my point was it doesn't necessarily make that team easier to beat. players/managers with their backs against the wall may put in an extra 10% they might try that desperate shot or pass that they wouldn't have done normally.
