Huddersfield Town

Is it me or does it feel like this is happening more often this season in the championship:
Transfer embargos for the top 2
rumored administration for Sheff Utd and Huddersfield
points deductions for Wigan and Reading.

It feels like stories like this are coming out more often this year

They appear to be in a dilemma - if they don’t go into administration by March 23 they would get a points deduction next season I believe (if they subsequently fall.) Do they want the 12 point deduction this season and certain relegation and start at 0 in Div 1 or take their punishment next season and give it a go at -12 and hoping on staying up. Any new potential owners would prefer a sale without the big debts (purchase out of administration).

Finally catching up with a lot isn't it.. coming home to roost.

Clubs spending more than 100% of their TOTAL income on salaries alone, before they've even turned a light on.. only going to go one way. Bananas way to run a business.

Governance should have been put in place to prevent this happening a long long time ago.. essentially players wages are killing the game.. and the glitz, glamour and revenue of the Premier league is too big of a lure so clubs are willing to roll the dice and pray they get up after spunking more than what they bring in on these players.

its all getting a bit out of control now

How many is that now?

Derby
Sheff Wed
Reading
Wigan
Hudds
Sheff Utd
Burney

Thats just off the top of my head

Warnock I imagine will be quite good at a siege mentality “we will show them etc” so not a game we should take lightly regardless.
Best in the Business.

Sheffield United in the penultimate game and then relegation rivals Reading for their last.

How have they spent beyond their means? i dont recall any decent players that would be worth going out of business for even when they went up. They seemed to have a decent team of plodders who overachieved. what happened to all the money?

They got absolutely robbed in that play off final, it was truly shocking... feel for their fans. plucky forest eh

Got to agree with a few earlier. They were shafted big style in that Play Off final, to the point I genuinely believe there was corruption going on.

It was ridiculous.

Hopefully Forest get their just desserts and go down after blasting £100m's

For Huddersfield to end up like this less than 12 months on is terrible.

Their previous majority owner, Dean Hoyle, sold 75% of the club to another man, whose other businesses then imploded and the club has suffered alongside that.

Hoyle has been footing the bill since last year, and trying to find a new majority owner since then.

So a change in ownership caused their problems.

The Football League’s due diligence on fit and proper owners once again in the spotlight. Phil Hodgkinson was the new owner who bought 75% of Hoyle’s shares when at the time his Legal businesses were insolvent. The Pure Business Group was in a financial state from the accounts.

What possessed Hodgkinson to buy the football club at that time I have absolutely no idea but I bet it was a desperate gamble to take Huddersfield into the PL and siphon off the riches to support his other business problems.

Burnley only have a transfer embargo because of late filing.
Burnley’s £170m takeover.. used the clubs own money! When they were in the prem it was said their finances would be in big trouble as they got relegated. You would think promotion would help them out.. eventually with tv money and parachute payments.

Saying that Sheffield United are struggling still owing over £18m on past transfers.. are these clubs owed money just waiting for promotion or a big fire sale in the summer? £90m i your proposed..

Sale of Pope, Mee, Tarkowski Cornet, Collins McNeil and Wood would have helped - brought in £73m

Getting cheated out of winning the play offs has been awful for them. Some of the decisions in that match were awful.
Restricting the away support to 2300 hasn't helped much either. Honestly, I can't understand why the EFL, club creditors or whoever are not questioning things like this more. They are playing in a stadium that is nigh on empty most games, surely it makes sense, especially with their current predicament, to find an alternative to offer more away tickets. If they could somehow double up our allocation then whats that, another 100K in the coffers? Do that for another few games and it's a good chunk of change coming into the club.

Kicking myself for not buying Newcastle FC a few years ago.. could have had a fair few apartments paying for my retirement!

Yes, the Sacramento Magpies would have played in banana yellow striped kits..
