How's Your Dry January Going ?

I’ve always liked what Frank Skinner said about giving up.....he said “ People always say....at least you can remember what you did last night” and he says “Yeah......NOTHING”.😀
Although he’s never been as funny since he packed in drinking.
That may very well be true, although didn't he pack in drinking before he became a comedian? And if that was the subtle point you were making, I salute you.

I never bother with dry anything and expect my average units per week this month to be roughly inline with my usual consumption which has stayed remarkably consistent at around 41 per week over the last few years.

Years ago I read Frank skinners autobiography from what I remember he packed up drinking in his 20s I think so well before he became a comedian. Think he used it to spur him on to change his life and go back to full time education

I’ve seen him live a couple of times and he tells stories of his “relationships” after gigs and drinks. One story that he peed the bed and then woke the girl up and told her, she did it.

On day 13 and not a problem so far as there is nowt going on socially.
I love pubs, so not going in to them means I miss the atmosphere far more than the booze.

I will do the full month, but then will drink again. Mainly because I have a massive stash of Black Sheep deliciousness especially in mini kegs that will be starting to near end of code. To waste that would be jailable.

It is a lot easier than I was expecting. Pubs being shut is a nice help. Really do not miss it at all either (surprising myself). I am going to try to not drink alcohol in the house at all. Far too easy to sink into bad habits.

I don’t give myself goals for alcohol anymore as I’ve learned to be disciplined and focused on how I’d like to wake up the next morning — clear head.

I didn’t bother trying, but I only drink 2 nights a week anyway but what I did start doing was not having a drink til about an hour later, so where I might have had 6 cans I only now have 4 cans.

Mine isn't.

Not a chance of me going through this s***show without a few beers.
I've had a drink every night since New Year's Eve.
I'm down to a mix pack of Brewdogs, 20 cans of Carlsberg, a bottle of Aldi's knock off Captain Morgans Spiced (which is delightful by the way) and a couple of bottles of rose left over.

Yeah dry January was never going to be a thing in this household 🤣

Had no alcohol at all between November and the end of December.

Just a Gin and tonic now and again in January.

May leave it alone in February and possibly until the pubs and clubs reopen.

I can't do alcohol - unfortunately, as I'm one of its biggest fans! I was wasting too many hours recovering from it, and so would often just skip the hangover by having a few more beers. It's not a good path really, so I just put on my willpower cape and flew away from alcohol completely.

I can't say I like the thought of never drinking again, as it's just not me :) 'Tee-totaller', urgh.

Not a big drinker TBH, I could go months without a drink anyway
This month I have drunk more than in any previous January for a number of years, having a Guiness or two at home with a meal, mmmm ✌️

How’s it going guys? I will hit the one month mark on Tuesday. It hasn’t been too bad at all and I’ve managed to lose 10lb to boot.

Hopefully Feb will be easy enough, though Six nations will be a test and getting through March when it starts to get lighter will be a challenge!

Coming off dry Jan tomorrow after 26 days. Been a **** 2 weeks work wise, 16lb lost so far. Wine and g&t rather than beer though.

Fair play. The wheels came off for me last weekend. I got disheartened with my fitness kick after I done my knee in with all the running.

Good Effort Subbuteo! It's crazy how much weight a beer (or five) can cause you to gain. I haven't even lost a stone yet, and can hardly recognize myself in the mirror, puffiness around my cheeks etc has pretty much disappeared.
