How The Young Ones changed comedy

The Young Ones riot scene in the episode Sick is one of the funniest few minutes of television I've ever watched. The part where the lad from Madness flings his sax directly into the camera is timed so beautifully :ROFLMAO:

Interesting how it was the pre cursor ( for my fave ever show) as well for blackadder as the amount of crossovers infront and behind the camera was huge and of course all three of ade Nigel and of course the genius that was lord flasheart we’re all in black adder.

what a comic genius Rik mayall was as he even made jackanory ( arguably the dullest kids show ever) fun.
Investigative reporter as well

Let’s not forget the bands as well incredible bands they had every week.
It was because of the bands that the program got made, BBC comedy would not sanction making the series as they considered it a bit of a risk, Paul Jackson, was approached by Barry Cryer, I think, and asked if he could help, if musical performances were included then the show could be made under the BBC Light Entertainment banner, which as executive producer of the Two Ronnies he had some sway within. The rest as they say is history.

Peter Richardson was originally cast to play the part of Mike but wasn't available at the time of production. Pity. It would've made this uniquely hilarious show even better.

That would have been great! Christopher Ryan was a bit of a weak link, but it still worked
