How long do we give Warnock then?

I’m in the bed wetting camp now. We are going to finish mid table with players who are easily good enough to get in the play offs.
Why leave Siliki on for so long when he was having such a stinker?
Why spunk 5 mill on a player we won’t trust to start?
Why drop our best player in Jones?

Going backwards. I’m angry after todays match, for the first time in a couple of seasons, because it’s yet another one where the outcome became predictable with an hour left to play. Not so much with the players, but the management decisions re Siliki, Jones, Payero and the fact that we are looking so open every game, even against weaker opposition.

Yeah I've had enough. The game has moved on (see also Pulis). I've no doubt he can do a job with limited players, but he hasn't a clue how to get the best out of more technical ones.

It's not just results but performances and there's no hint he has what it takes to turn us around. Performances and results this season are of a team looking more likely to be relegated than promoted. I can't see it changing, we've been here too many times before. I fear it's just now a case of months of Gibson dithering before his hand is forced.

Same, was never ‘Warnock out’ but the sheer lack of progress from one game to the next, not making changes when it’s clearly not working and blaming the refs when we were clearly ***** and wouldn’t have won irrespective of the officiating has done me in.

I was happy he kept us up ....Great achievement...but for some reason...its not working consistently...I think we should get the manager in that will link in with the new recruitment guy .get on the same page and make the next chapter staet to happen now...not next year...and not in January
Personally I find his rants against the refferees embarrassing....it loses its Impact when it happens every game
...rhe refs probably love awarding things against his teams

In an attacking sense I think we have a decent squad now but I don’t think Warnock knows how to use them.

We lack the requisite level of cover at the back and are quite often found to be a soft touch defensively.

This is Warnock’s team and I think it is going to be found wanting.

What are his stats for the year? We won our first game in January I think, but we are on what, ten wins in thirty odd games now?

Does anyone think that is good enough?

It feels like the Mowbray year when he was sacked in October, plenty were saying he just needed time to get a settled defence etc. but the facts were we were conceding stupid goals and not learning from them or improving.

This feels the same.

Gibson will give him till the end of the year at least.

I’m getting really tired of this hamster wheel of sacking underperforming managers who are given money and time to settle, then it’s all change again….

I wish we could break the cycle.

I think this is probably about right. It's going to be his last season it seems, regardless of the outcome and unless we're in danger of being drawn into the bottom 3 then he'll stick with him.

There's no way that he'll sack NW given its the last season in football, unless he has no choice.

I assume the appointment of Scott is the first proper step in that direction. The signings seem much more left-field than the previous few seasons and there definitely seems to be a new direction.

It could be Scott already has someone lined up for next summer, or at least strongly in mind.

If it gets to the point around Christmas where it looks like we are well out of contention for the play-offs, then what is the point in Warnock staying to leave in May?

We may as well start with the new guy (or gal) to give them a few months to really assess the squad and implement new ideas before spending in the summer window again.

Frankly Commander, you are one of the posters who can see no wrong. Others can. Our record this calendar year are more relevant to a club fighting off relegation. That’s the bottom line.

There is a malaise around the club that Warnock has done little to arrest.

Frankly, it is you that need to get a grip - of reality

Never understood what some of these euphemisms mean entirely?

I think that concern and anxiety about our team is natural for human beings, because it is in our nature to self-preserve: the club is a family which gives us identity - any perceived "failings" are a threat to that identity.

As we attribute our permanence to the "family" [club] - Managers are "guests", who can quickly be labeled unwanted intruders: especially if their intrusion threatens our existence.

Lets accept the presence of our current guest and not give in to our weaknesses and neurosis - as this is a negative strand which threatens our permanence and our identity.

So we accept the presence even if we know it’s patently not working? His fate is determined by one man - and I can’t see a twitching finger to press the trigger anytime soon - if at all this season.

Hi Nosmo. I can see the wrong and agree this season has not kicked off as we would all want. But I just don't accept that, at the first sign of trouble, the manager getting the boot is the best way forward. I could get it if we were in Forest's position and things looked dire. Or if it was a gamble with a new manager that did not look like coming off ie Woodgate. But whether you like him or not, Warnock has proved himself numerous times in this division. I know that is no guarantee of success but it would suggest that if he is given the tools then he can succeed.

Football never used to have such short horizons. Ferguson at Man Utd is the classic example - not winning anything in the first 6 years (I think) but they kept with him because they believed he was the right man for the job despite a dodgy record for those first 6 years. It strikes me that many fans are quite petulant and at the first sign of poor results and not getting what they want, they demand the manager's head as some kind of retribution.

If this period had gone on years and years I could get it. People say it has been during the full calendar year as if it is a lifetime. It is probably around 20 games at a guess. A manager should get 3 years as a minimum to take stock, implement change then get results and be left to get on with it unless we were dropping like a stone, which we are not.

I think it is over 30 games since January now and we've won about 10?

I think there could be an argument for giving the next manager a year or two rebuilding the club to Kieran Scott's new vision. But if Warnock is leaving the club at the end of May anyway, then there is no longer view and long term to work towards.

If by the end of November we're still languishing lower down than we should be, and the playing style and results are below what the club hierarchy think we should be achieving then what is the point in persisting with the last six months under Warnock?
