How has your lockdown gardening been?

Disaster with tomatoes, after months of love and care have only ended up with one tomato :mad:
Herb garden has flourised.
Chilli plant has been exceptional
Fig tree died but came back to life after getting water to the roots, no fruit this summer though.
Carrots are growing but still very small.
Gladiolus have been stunning.
Sunflowers a major disappointment.

What have been your successes and failures?

laid about 40m2 of decking after a 3 month wait for it. shifted 6T of gravel into position. the planters and grass can wait until next year now! nothing good on the plant front! got a 2 year old Acer which is still about 4" tall o_O

Where did you get your decking buddy ? I've been sourcing some and cant believe the cost

Cabbages, spuds, onions, tomatoes, peppers, beetroot, lettuce, radish have done well

Outdoor cucumber & squashes not as good as last year, same with courgette

Parsnips, sprouts, purple sprouting coming along ok

Giant pumpkin will be weighed next week, should come in over 1500lb which will be a personal best (y)

Last year, I was on top of the gardening, this year even though I was off most of the summer, I didn’t have the motivation. Probably as we had no one coming over for bbqs etc.
I did plant some veg but not as much as previous years.

broad beans, got an ok haul.
tomatoes- my sweet million have done well and still providing, albeit they started late.
Beefmaster there’s probably 6 large tomatoes on two plants but still green.
San Mazarno - one green tomato across two plants.

chillies - Red Habanero - one plant and maybe. 30 chillies on it, though none have ripened yet.

Aji lemon drop - had maybe 10 ripened chillies so far, same again on the plants currently

Choc Hab - maybe a dozen chillies on - none ripened

Thai chilli - maybe 35 on plant but all green atm.
Scotch Bonnet distaster! - across 15 plants most died and I’ve had 3 chillies think it must have been the seeds tbh

beetroot - currently in but don’t think they have produced a root yet, just lots of leaves which are currently dying back actually

raspberry - surprise of the summer. We found some rasp canes with a free to a good home sign in a village in May. Everything said wrong time of year to plant and they would die. We’ve had maybe 200 rasps off them!

other huge surprise - courgettes all failed. I got maybe 6 small courgettes across 3 plants disappointingly

My old man helped me build this last month, ready for next year. (He did most of the work) A raised bed, cold frame hybrid. And recycled the windows we got took out last year. Wood panels are all from my sisters old fence

a disaster of a year, thanks to a wet august. Probably 20 tomatoes from 10 plants. Caulis, every one bolted, sprouts tiny, beetroots tiny, runners not too bad, courgettes decent

Smithfield Timber. My mate works there. still took forever to arrive. they have the frame materials in stock but the deck boards were a nightmare to get!
