How good was Bellingham last night

At that age
Playing like that in foreign side incredible.

he has to be shoe horned into any England side surely. As this kid is quality.
Very good. Yet Southgate will take Phillips instead because he plays in the premier league for Leeds.

He was brilliant in both legs. The fact he's so young and performed like that was very impressive.

If he can perform like that in both legs of a Quarter Final of the Champions League against the tournament favourites at 17, then his future has got to be bright.

There's a lot of football between now and the euros' but going off those performances, he's shown more in 2 games than I've seen from Phillips at Leeds all season (and Phillips has been impressive - just nowhere near what Bellingham has done at a higher level and on a bigger stage).

I think Southgate should be starting him at the Euro's never mind being a squad player.

Rice, Bellingham, Henderon or Mount as the mid 3 with Foden, Grealish & Kane as the attacking trio, and I'd be optimistic.

Agree he was great in both legs. Covered so much ground, scored at one end and a goal line clearance at the other.

Certainly worthy of a place in the team in my opinion.

Him and Foden first two names on the team sheet for me. Only those two, Kane and Sterling with genuine world class quality in my opinion. Bellingham's reading of the game is incredible for one so young.
Sterling is beginning to concern me. His form is poor and he’s being dropped by City to the bench on the back of that. Hopefully he gets it back.

Agree. He had stopped scoring which could be an issue. Just think there's very few full backs internationally who would relish squaring up to him.

His movement unlocks space for Foden too.

I like this England team and new crop of players, it feels very much like a change of culture which Southgate played a huge part in making happen is starting to see results, I love the way how Southgate can manage expectations also. pragmatic and realistic with understated optimism. if the newspapers can lay off all the sensationalist goading and backstabbing.. well who knows.

but it will be fun to watch!!

I hope you’re right because the last few games have not been that much fun to watch. That said I’m not knocking Southgate. He got the result against Poland.

I agree, but I was pulling together my squad from the other thread, and gosh did it make me realise how poor we are at the back from when we had a CB pool of Southgate, Ferdinand, Terry, Carragher, Woody, Campbell to choose from (across the years)

I thought that Birmingham were being ridiculous with the whole shirt retirement thing last year, but they clearly recognised what a gem they'd had.

I actually hope that he stays abroad without domestic distractions, concentrating on the game, and becomes one of the best for many years to come.

I was thinking that to be honest. I thought it was an absolutely ridiculous move. But then more recently i've been more like 'huh' and 'hmm' 'well then' fair play to them.

It was ridiculous.

He could become the best player in history and it will never not be a ridiculous decision to retire a 17 year old's shirt after half a season.
