How evil can one person be

I'm with TLJ - we need more information as we can't know whether it was a vile, filthy act carried out intentionally or whether there's more to it than a headline. The poor nurse is the innocent victim regardless and shouldn't have to deal with anything of that kind however.

Ok with an actual story we can see she's been charged, and so it's likely she isn't mentally ill (or at least known to be).

No, not the same video, someone had video from a house a group of teenagers being a nuscience & one girl approached an old lady & deliberately coughed in her face, for a laugh
 
It is not acceptable on any level, no matter what problems a person has. There is certainly no indication of mental health being a factor in the story i read personally, that does not mean there isn’t mind.

Far too many people in this country think they should be allowed to do what they want when they want it. unfortunately, whether people choose to ignore it or don’t come across it because their own lives are sheltered from it to some degree Is a moot point, but there exists a social class in parts of society that due to a variety of factors such as poverty, poor parenting, poor education and lack of life opportunities and skills that keeps on replicating generation after generation. A small but significant few individuals and/or families constantly tie up police, health and other social resources like housing and community safety on an almost daily basis.

Why? Well, its debatable, but I have come across some in society that even in modern Britain are almost feral. Society may have let them down from a young age, their parents before them, they know no better sadly, they get forgotten by society. Others, well some make deliberate choices in their pathways too that have a causal effect on their health, their life opportunities, some just copy their learned behaviours from friends and families, some through sheer desperation make poor choices. We can all site communities where we would never want to live. We have all seen people in the streets that we would not want to live next door to or socially interact with in any way. It‘s all well and good blaming politicians, but we in society turn our backs at times too thanking our lucky stars whilst other less fortunate people don’t have that luxury.

The answer, some think is making society more equal and fair. Yes, I am sure that might help to some degree obviously. However, human greed and selfishness and thoughtlessness will always win through In Britain Imho. Pandora’s box is open and the will within society, never mind politics, does not exist to prioritise these problem individuals, they are always someone else's problem that most in society expect an under resourced army of emergency and support workers are expected to manage and keep out of societies sight as much as possible. Every now and then, like this woman, they spring to our attention and some suffer as a result.

It is far easier and cheaper to punish In the short term than to tackle the problem and the many causes head on over the many generations to come. Nothing will change sadly.

Totally agree Coluka. It's easier to label sections of society than to tackle the hard bit - assessing the causes of societal issues and correcting them.

That is not to suggest individuals shouldn't be punished for vile actions.
 
my good lady has been a NHS nurse for over 30 years (16 years on A&E) - gun(s) & knifes have been flashed at her (not always in anger - but still !), she has been punched, kicked, bit, scratched, spat at, pushed, items thrown at her and been in proximity to many brawls between patients/visitors etc.. She has been offered recreational drug(s), sex (from male & female), modelling and proposals of marriage.

If that A&E had been a licensed premises it would be closed down.



ive come to the conclusion that hospitals are very unsafe places (physical and mental) to work, and that much much more needs to be done to deliver a safe place of work for those working in our NHS, across all sectors..
 
Just because it's been reported in the newspaper and she's been charged doesn't mean she's not mentally ill. In fact until we know more, I would err on the side of caution and assume that she is for just performing such an act.
