How Did You Find Going to the Pub at the Weekend ?

Went out with the missus, luckily we'd pre-booked tables in a couple of pubs for between 2.30 & 6.00pm as most were turning people away as they were fully booked ............... on a Saturday afternoon !!

They were both using the NHS Covid App for gaining entry, which worked fine.

Overall I enjoyed having a few pints but any spontaneity is for now a thing of the past when going out and I think we'll stick to going out for a meal and a few drinks until this **** show is all over.

Went for a couple Friday tea time, found it bizarre having to put a face covering on to go to the toilet which was 6ft away

I agree about the spontaneity. We booked the first place but then where do you go from there ? It's killed the traditional pub crawl but I do like the table service.

It's killed the experience for me, I doubt I'll be going out anywhere near as much anymore.

Which I suppose the government will be happy about, but it's bad for the pubs themselves.

Me and Mrs Flash had a wander into Yarm Sunday afternoon, nothing booked. Called in at the ‘new’ micro pub, lovely people, friendly and felt safe. Then called somewhere for something to eat, all good, bit quiet. Finally a taxi home, the guy had installed a full plastic screen between the front and rear seats.

Things are far from perfect, but liveable if it stays like this.

Friday night in the club was good, little different to usual, big plus having table service, strange having last orders at 9.15. Luckily had a mask in my pocket for entry and popping to the toilet.

Saturday evening popped into one of the local bars while Chinese meal was being prepared. No spacing, no track and trace. Wasn't in there long. It was full over over 50's, not youngsters.

Went to three pubs, one for food and the other two for drinks.

Service was very slow for the food, as they aren't used to seating people like a restaurant would, so they weren't keeping track of who came in and where they sat. One person serving the whole pub.

The others were great though, soon as you finished your drink they were over asking if you wanted the same, quick to return with drink and change. If anything it was better than it has been.

I haven't been in a pub or club since March. I thought the world with old end but now don't even notice.

Saved a few Bob for next? Years holidays

Surely Ben as you work in pub you should improve the experience. 😀😀😀

Only kidding Ben see you Wednesday for a test run.

Publicans and restaurant owners are obviously annoyed with the latest measures but hands are tied.
With the reports today that pubs and restaurants have only been responsible for 3% of new cases using the track and trace stats it's only a matter of time before the big breweries band together and force the government's hand.

Went out on Friday mid afternoon to our local, they're not taking bookings so thought it best to go out early doors. Normally there's 8-12 of us who go in every Friday but they are only allowing 1 household per table so it was quiet, and frankly just plain weird for all of us to be sat at individual tables (Mrs and I being the only exception). One lass who sits with us came in, but had to go home as there were no tables left in the bar where we sit, she was a bit upset to be honest. Table service was fine, although I got 'told off' twice for taking empties back to the bar, just force of habit.

It's a bit weird, but it is what it is so we either choose to put up with it, or stay at home. The 10pm thing doesn't bother us as we're never out that late in our local, we're early out, early home for a takeaway.

Not really interested in going to the pub or eating out tbh, would rather enjoy a few bottles of wine round the girlfriends. With the uncertainly over work I’ll save the money instead. She’s more worried about Covid than me so the one time we did go out to the pub she admitted she didn’t enjoy it. I’ve kicked my coffee habit as something that should be so easy is a bit of a chore, stand here, fill this form out, scan this, wear your mask to go to the toilet a few feet away etc. I’m saving loads of money even whilst furloughed, as long as I keep my job I’ll save like crazy for a house and hopefully there will be at least a 10% fall in prices. Want to be mortgage free so I don’t ever have to worry about losing my house if this happens again, would happily sacrifice trips to the pub for that.

Table service takes a bit of getting used to - everything takes so much longer. Plus getting 'the bill' when you want to leave. Not a massive issue but it does bust the spontaneity of it all.

Luckily I live in rual Buckinghamshire and there's not to many cases round here at the moment. Feel safe in my local. It's a bit annoying having to wear a mask to get a pint, but they have screens up on the bar and then I just go out and sit in the beer garden/extended car park, & have a quick hand sanitise during each pint. They're getting heaters on the tables too so hopefully ok to sit outside during winter.

In one of the other pubs we go to in another village, the pub is an old circa 1600 inn and pretty small which has meant they have had to cut back on number of staff in the kitchens, which has led to a huge drop in service levels for food

My local's been table service and closing at 10 since it reopened in July. It works absolutely fine if you are not stupid. Funnily enough, the rule changes a couple of weeks ago (the six thing) means that I can meet more than one friend in a pub for the first time since March which is what is happening about two hours from now.

We didn’t bother but by the looks of things, people will just start their drinking earlier and as seen in some city centres, hang around the streets after 10pm.....

Had a lovely evening with four others, one of whom I hadn't seen since March. There were never more than ten others in the pub. Staff were attentive and constantly cleaning and telling people who were moving around to cover their face if it wasn't already covered. We were last in by 9:45. Beer very good.
