How Coronavirus is Spread Through the Air

This also shows just why it is far safer out of doors.
And also why wearing masks and good ventilation go hand in hand and make a substantial difference to the spread.

Pubs and restaurants which are not ventilated are high risk going by that , as one infected person in a room will infect 14 in the same room if not ventilated .
Puts me off going for a pint.

I’ve been in pubs all over the country since July 4th. Each time I have entered I have given my details. At a conservative guess I would say I’ve been in 25 pubs across the north east, north west, north and west York’s. I’ve not had one phone call despite potentially coming into contact with thousands of like minded pub customers and staff. None of my family or friends that have done likewise have , to my knowledge, had any contact from track and trace after frequenting pubs. Yet for some reason pubs are seen as the root of all evil. They aren’t. They are community hubs where people find company. They provide jobs and livelihoods for thousands of people. They won’t be around much longer and this time next year when this virus which has so far killed 0.07 percent of the population is under control we will be picking up the pieces of bankruptcies, suicides, undetected cancers, heart attacks and strokes that will claim far more than 0.07 percent of us. This ridiculous medicine is far worse than the disease.

I've only used one place 'regularly' since the lockdown. I missed the Saturday that 20 cases were linked to the spread there. Re-opens tonight and there's a chance I'll be back in.

First music night at the venue since the lockdown I believe is when it occured, though I could be wrong.

Let's stop this nonsense of it not spreading in the hospitality sector.

Some of What you say is correct
It is also correct you are more likely to catch it in doors. That’s why measures are in place in pubs for you to socially distance within them

Quick, everybody outside.

As for hospitality nobody ever said it didn't spread in some venues. What irks people is the media and government are basically saying it's one of the main drivers of the spread. When infact 1% of cases are traced back to a hospitality venue.

You can imagine the government's next advice will be to only stay indoors to sleep and I'd bet a small amount of money if that ever became advice 75% of this country would follow it. 😂
Pretty hard to track and trace Donald Duck and Micky mouse

But you also have to be in there for at least 2 hours before the major threat kicks in as far as I can work out.

The first example of the living room scenario is what`s driving us to be all at a minimum tier 2 by the end of November in my opinion.

Mixed households with no masks and no ventilation (because it`s cold) = everyone getting infected. Mix again with a different household and it gets out of control

Restrict the mixing of households over the winter means only the immediate house occupants have the potential to become infected and not pass it on

I was in a pub last Friday with the wife on one table , and a couple we know on the next table . There was a very loud young couple sat on a table behind us ,the male telling his mate how ill he had been over the phone ( he didn't say it was covid ) , when they left their seats were taken by 2 blokes who were hammering the pints down followed by shots , and the more they had the louder they got , and an angry old git on another table who constantly shouted or muttered comments to a bloke he called the fat lad who was with a group further down the pub . No ventilation , no windows open , occasionally someone came in the pub or left the pub by the front or back doors so I suppose there was a bit of air getting in .
We were in there 3.5hrs , ok at the time , but looking back , not a good experience , and some dubious characters I would not normally sit any where near .
So , my point is , that scenario was possibly a major threat looking back , and not something I am keen to do again . No symptoms since so got away lightly , but surely this is asking for trouble ? I would say I am more comfortable having a drink in a room in one of our houses with 2 close friends who I know have not been taking risks . But this is not allowed , but the pub is ?

This is very approximate but .....

The diameter of the virus is of the same order as that for cigarette smoke (fag smoke is variable but generally a bit bigger). So if you imagine that the virus will spread in a room something like fag smoke you might get an idea. It's obviously more complicated than that and I'm sure there are many papers about it but that's how I think of it.

While I'm here - owner of the pub I went to briefly last evening had a message saying that Stockton local authority was going to level 3 on Monday.
