In what will essentially be a mini-season are you confident we will pick up more points than Barnsley, Luton, Charlton, Wigan and Hull?
Personally I would have been elated if the season was voided. Despite the win at Charlton, I was apprehensive about staying up. Wigan, Barnsley and Luton had picked up considerably while ourselves, Charlton and Hull appeared in free fall. Our saving grace was the great mini-run over the Christmas period that gave ourselves a significant gap from the bottom three. However the goodwill from that period was thrown out with the poor results in the period after, the lowlight of which where we played the bottom three in a row with only a point against the ten men of Wigan to show made everyone realise relegation was still on the cards. The results themselves were poor but it was the manner of the defeats, not even a shot on target against Luton and Barnsley, had lost a lot of goodwill and support for Woodgate.
Positives - Wigan, Barnsley and Luton had started improving performances and results. Like an international break maybe they will revert back to the form that had them at the bottom of the table in the first place. The break stopping their momentum. Hull genuinely look since losing Bowen and Grosicki like they may not win another game this season such is the lack of quality and experience left in their side. Charlton are having internal problems and the one person who could fire them to safety is the out of contract Lyle Taylor (who I'd love us to get this summer, remember his hat-trick against us for Falkirk years ago?) but is he fully committed with his age and opportunity for one final big move to come this summer?
Negative - the manager Woodgate. A disasterous choice to begin with but many have backed him. He lost a lot of people with the run post Christmas with people rightly worried about the manner of the performances as much a single results and had we not beaten Charlton in the last game we could have been going down had the season stopped. That is disgraceful with the players we have. In my opinion the sides who'll survive will be the sides who have kept themselves fit and will hit the ground running. Unfortunately I do not trust Woodgate to have them ready and am fearful we have to finish the season.
