How can Oasis sell all those stadiums out at £150 a go?

I loved Oasis as a kid and would happily see them again but I am massively against the price of gig tickets so it was a non-starter for me when it was announced and that was before they doubled the price of the face value tickets themselves. I hate the prices, I hate the online queuing system, I hate the fees and I hate the legitimisation of ticket touts. Ticket companies selling tickets to themselves to sell on resale for higher prices or forcing people to use their own platform to double-dip on fees etc. It's all just wrong.

Occasionally I will see a gig I am interested in and it still has tickets left and I can log on and buy them and that's fine. I'm not wasting a weekend sat on the computer watching an online queue slowly creep down. I know the demand is high and they've sold all their tickets so it is just supply and demand but I really detest the way it is administered. A lot of the demand is artificial. How many people were sat there with several browser windows open trying to get tickets for a group of people while the rest of the group did the same thing? There will have been a genuine number of demand and some people will have got more than they needed and others got none, or had to pay the surge prices. It's just exploitation.

The fact Oasis have always claimed to be men of the people makes it worse. Same with Taylor Swift. There was stories about her donating money to foodbanks and how wonderful she was but she was charging obscene amounts for tickets. It's hypocritical.

I'm sure nobody will care when they are there enjoying themselves but I wish the whole process was a bit more fair, a bit more affordable and a lot less exploitative.

I don't disagree with most of your post but this is an oft-cited fallacy. They perhaps said this in 1994, but this century and even before they've openly said they'll never feel guilty about any money they make as they grew up with very little. Not saying this is 'endearing' but it is at least honest.

Its a bit like when people claim MFC are hypocrites for claiming to be a 'community club', but HAVE they ever claimed this? I certainly don't remember it in recent years. These are all private entities whose objective is to squeeze money out of us. Its the world we live in, most people are fully on board with it and repeatedly vote for it.

"I know Oasis aren't for everyone but I don't get the sneering and looking down the nose at people that goes on on this board."

This happens on a large majority of threads, not just this. High horse sales must go through the roof when the FMTTM bandwagon rolls into town.

I suppose if I moan about ticket prices to see the mighty boro on a regular basis then I shouldn’t be hypocritical and pay over the odds for Oasis.

I’m sure the likes of myself and other fans will have the last laugh when we have a ball seeing them in Budapest or somewhere for hopefully a decent price rather than at a cold wet Manchester.

I have to keep telling myself this as I’m about to go a on Teams call with at least 3 people who got tickets in the presale 🙈

There's a big difference between making money and ripping people off though. I don't have a problem with them charging the going rate. I don't think any artist should feel guilty about making the money they make for being in the industry they are in. It's the additional steps like charging surge pricing.

These people know what they need to charge to make x amount. There is no benefit to them to make it more difficult for people to get tickets or for surge pricing to achieve it. The surge price tickets must be a small percentage of the available tickets but the negative publicity is huge. Why not just add £30 onto everyone's tickets if they really need those extra few million quid? I really don't like the idea that they sell identical tickets for different prices. I've never been a fan of stadiums charging different prices for different parts of the ground when we're all there to watch the same thing but at least there is some logic to paying a premium to sit in the seat with the best view.

Surge pricing doesn't even make sense in this case. The demand was high from the off. There was no surge, it was always there. It's just chance whether you were at the front or the back of the queue.

Fair point.

Their defence will always be about increasing revenue to pay for players etc. Not saying that’s right.

My personal opinion is they should take that stuff off the website though and just admit they’re part of the machine.

The thing is through, the “going rate” isn’t an actual thing. As someone above said, they could have maybe charged £250 minimum and people would have paid it. They probably think offering tickets for £75-150 is a concession in itself.

Not saying it’s right but there’s no getting away from it is there. Of course they’re out to fleece us, and we have the option to say no (as I did when quoted the stupid £350 price). People really need to be strong.

I don’t think they have always claimed to be ‘men of the people’. I’ve seen many interviews and never heard them say that, they have however mentioned many times that they like money and being rich.

While I dont disagree that she made obscene amounts of money, I don't think you can really compare the two. Taylor swift took care of everyone on that tour, it's a 3 hour 30 minute gig with a huge team of dancers, wardrobe, stage changes and the support acts have been bands that could easily sell expensive tickets on their own - beabadoobie, Olivia Rodrigo, Gracie Abrams, paramour, Sabrina carpenter etc

She gave 55 million in bonuses to her crew that worked on the tour last year and has a history of donating to food banks, disaster relief funds and even just randomly sending money to fans that are struggling after having posted on social media about their troubles, funding libraries, right down to sending people boxes of clothes after tornadoes (on top of putting a million into the pot)

I don't think Liam and Noel will be dishing out 55 million in bonuses and I'd imagine a shorter set than 3.5 hours. It's both still obscene amounts of money, but she has never claimed to be a woman of the people or working class, but she does some good with her money when she doesn't have to. At the end of the day it's their job to make money, we aren't forced to pay it to them, it's done out of choice and what they do with it is up to them once they have got it.

I managed to put 2 tickets in my basket for Murrayfield on the 9th.. this was around 3:30 on saturday afternoon.. when I went to check out the amount was £975.00 !!

I don’t disagree about Swift and I quite like her but, mark my words, in ten years time, she’ll be criticised for being a self-righteous greedy/rich cow who should be giving more of her wealth away or stop banging on about poor people etc. All these people have a shelf life.
