How about when all this covid mayhem gets managed

And we’re allowed to go out again and who knows possibly even in a pub , how about we have a gathering ? Be great meeting up with people we’ve unwittingly come to know really well like we’re stuck on an island .

We did it years ago and met up in Dr Browns and had a cracking time and even DCFC came along as a guest . I brought a roll of sticky labels and we all wore them with our board names on . Was great putting a face to a name .

It’ll certainly give us an aim and something to look forward to . Anyway thoughts ?

ps . Ok we’ll even accept politics 😎

Couldn't think of anything worse than standing in a pub with a username name tag on looking for other people with theirs and trying to strike up a conversation. Just feels very awkward to me.

Am sure if by chance I ended up chatting to someone at the bar about the match afterward, which happens pretty regularly when people are trying to get served, and it became apparent we both posted on here, that'd probably be fine. And we'd have a laugh about the nonsense that people post here.

I've been to the MSS named pubs to watch a televised game a few times, and chatted to random people, but having it forced just feels odd.

Not much interest then

I'll go, but only if you don't. And only if they ban The Smiths from the jukebox. Used to love them, but Morrissey has evolved into a world class knob, even more so that he was in the 80s. I also insist on at least 8 or 10 real ales and they MUST have salt and vinegar Hula Hoops or pickled onion Monster Munch behind the bar.

Other than that, I'm quite flexible ;)

If I go as someone else you would never know it was me ;)

It wasn't really like that. The very first meet was mid-week in an upstairs room at a pub I can't remember (Tap & Barrel, maybe?) so the dozen or so people there were all from the old Fly Me board.

As quite a few of those milled around the Dr Brown's area on a match day, it became a focal point to say hello to fellow 'boarders'.

The more formal arranged meet-ups grew out of that - so there was a large number of people who already socialised with other people turning up as mates etc.

I think the badge thing was a one-off when Blondie came up and there were more new people who came out for a chance to meet and greet the DCFC legend.

I'm pretty sure we all had t-shirts with our board names on by then anyway 🤣😂
